New Sonic! (And Orlando too)

So waiting to get my antenna fixed at Murray's today, i was perusing their lot and guess what i see pull up?
The new Orlando! The last i heard, the Orlando wasn't slated for a North American release! So after i snapped a couple of pics (in between trying to stay out of the dealer's pictures... well ok maybe not totally out of their pics lol...) i checked it out, and it appears GM scrapped plans for the Orlando stateside, but not Canada! So you will be seeing this little 5-7 people mover available near fall. And guess what? It comes available in stick! I never got a pic of the interior, but it is nice, similar to the Cruze in basis and material. Never got to ask or find out engine choices, but it is FWD, and it sounds like a four cylinder, in this trim at least.

And then, i go talk to my salesman, and he pipes up if i've seen the Sonic that they had in the back, yet! I was like, NO! But i do now! So i got around front just in time to see picture guy at it again, and elbow my way through some salesguys to see the new Sonic! Now, this is one good looking sub compact! Though its inside and outside dimensions don't seem to be small enough to be a sub compact, this car is pretty much Cobalt sized. It's supposed to handle really good and ride nice too. I never got to drive or sit in either of these as they were GM's CTF fleet for product demo's, and not slated for sale or use by "public". The rims on this thing are huge! I never got to see specifically, but they look like 18's! (though they dwarf the 'tiny' rear drums...) Again, really good materials and snazzy design inside, but i didn't quite see if there was an armrest... not cool if there isn't. But enough jabber, on to the pics! Engine choices are the same as the Cruze!

I am not feeling the Orlando, maybe with a higher trim it would look better. I bet if the FOrd CMax does well, then GM may bring it here. I really like the Sonic though, one good looking little hatch.

C-Max is dead except for the hybrid/EV variants.

I think the Orlando should do well against the Seoul and Cube's. GM didn't really have anything to compete against those...

And the Sonic looks like quite the little scooter car! Should be good for some econo numbers anyway!

Orlando's main competition is the Mazda 5. It's more of an MPV-type vehicle than a box.

I know, but it's size could easily make it a choice versus the Cube and Seoul... with more capacity.
How are the 7 seater versions of the Orlando going to work Fen? I thought the Orlando was supposed to be a 7 seater or something, it was coded MPV 7 eh? (I never got a good look inside the back...

It is a 7-seater. Two up front, three in middle, two in back.

Ah, OGtcha. Didn't relize they had killed the CMax. I can see why, the kia Ronda wasn't exactly a success and they already killed it, and it doesn't seem the Mazda 5 really gets that many sales here.

but those cars sell on their 'quirkiness', the Orlando is normal looking so I doubt they'd be cross shopped too much
