Whipple Camaro ZL1 Hood Insert

Is anyone using the Whipple Camaro ZL1 Hood Insert for the new 3.0 Whipple?

If you are can you share some pictures of it on the car?

Agreed, I haven’t heard of this. I’m running the small subframe spacers that Whipple provided and it clears the stock SS hood. I believe the ZL1 hood has even more clearance already too.

I found a Whipple hood vent for the 5th Gen. Is this what you’re asking about?

A few months ago, Whipple "quietly" announced their 3.0 kit release specifically for the Gen6 ZL1 & CTS-V3 crowd (I say this since they barely mentioned it in one of their IG post). It's now offered in their Website, however, it states that for the ZL1 an aftermarket hood or insert is needed for proper clearance. They do offer a Carbon Insert for $350. Pretty sure this is what the OP is referring to...

I think Whipple has an option for one on their website... I was on my phone when I saw it, so I could be misunderstanding... I wonder if they're talking about the panel, UNDER the hood, because that's where contact was in the 2.9 kits, and it's close enough to Maggie 2650s that even port plates will cause interference. Edelbrock 2650s hit right out of the box and require cutting the actual hood panel, so I'm wondering if the 3.0 Whipple may hit on the pulley end or the rear of the hood, just in front of the cowl...

I thought they were talking about a raised CF extractor, which I'd be all over, lol. It doesn't look that way though. They don't volunteer a lot of good information...

Yep, this.

"...Whipple’s groundbreaking 3.0L Gen 5 Supercharger System! Designed meticulously for your Camaro ZL1 or CTS-V..."

"**Special Note for Camaro ZL1 Owners:** To ensure proper clearance and optimal functionality of the supercharger system, the Camaro ZL1 requires the installation of the Whipple Carbon Fiber Insert or an aftermarket hood."

From what I can find online it is just a bit taller than the stock one and more squared off but I have not see it on a car and that is what I was looking for.

Just checking with the community, probably not going to change my mind on a Whipple over Magnuson.

The fitment problem, generally, is not to the hood. There is a panel, under the hood, that helps give the CF insert some support. It is THIS panel that usually requires trimming (and sometimes the rear part of the hood panel, itself, too). I must be confused.
