Hawaii is walking a very fine line, and one that they may lose in court. It's illegal to create a federal registry of gun owners. Hawaii seems to be skirting this by submitting gun owner names into a different database (not one explicitly used to track gun owners). Since that is a federal database, and the only qualification for those citizens is to own a firearm, I think that a good lawyer would have a strong case about striking that down.

Of course that legal action will take the next decade or so.... It would likely get upheld in Hawaii and at the District Court, and then they'd have to rely on the Supreme Court not only to hear the case, but to rule in their favor....

The database is one thing.
The other is the action they take based on an arrest in another state.

After last week, I have ZERO faith in the SCOTUS. sotomeyer (she doesn't deserve a capital s) is the worst excuse for a Justice in all of recorded history. I told the District Attorney I no longer need to follow the law since I'm going to carry around a print out of her idiotic statements since she's supposed to be THE authority.
