Good jobs for 19 year olds?

Well I have 2 more months of high school and I finally graduate! I plan on making a deal with my parents that if my grades stay up and I get a job and hold it that they will help me buy a new Camaro Convertible.

I have worked 2 jobs, one at Wal-Mart as a cashier and then secondly as a pizza delivery driver, neither one of those fit me at all. My family friends say they just don't see me as a clocking in and out kind of guy and think i should go into sales of some kind, but I was going to ask some suggestions from you guys and see what you think some decent jobs are for someone my age.

Thanks in advance guys.

Future owner of IOM 2LT Convertible, IO Interior.

Pssshh... I got my opinion on sales guys and I'll save it. Since your working in retail my take is that you try for LP. Nothing like the thrill of busting some shoplifters at your age. I started when I was 18 and now I OWN my Camaro.

When i was 18 i started working at a Communications company. I managed a retail and wholesale website at the company. I just turned 21 and to my surprise im still working there. Its a good job that pays well also. It is also my first and only job i've had.

If you're good in algebra and if they are building in OK, you might try to become an electrician. Good pay for beginners, but you will have to go to classes in the evenings. See what info you can get at the local electricians union. You will have to pass the tests and show algebra grades.

US Air Force! Or any US service really.
The pay is decent at E4+. They'll train you in something you could use in the outside world, and if not, atleast you have that military experience to put on a resume. And you'll get to travel the world.

All that while owning a SS

+1 Wouldn't want to do it again, but I'm glad I did it.

Planning on going to college? See if you can get a job in whatever field you're thinking about studying.

Have to agree w/ the military of not attending college... If you are undecided coming out of HS then join up...(USAF 1st preference) Otherwise you are just spinning your wheels and wasting VALUABLE TIME while working at Wallmart. You can do 4 years and come back out and have many more options available. Or you can work at Walmart... then another store or a fast food place and get no REAL job experience.

It's a tough decision where you are at... Wish you the Best of Luck on your choices..

the three things I can tell you....go to college...go to college...go to college. When you are 35 years old, you will be glad you did. Whether you go to college or not, Sales is always good. A good Sales person will always out gross every other position in any company. I know some sales guys now in the computer/it world pulling in 7 figures every year. Study computers/IT world if you can. That is where the future is.

but again, go to college, you will never regret it..PLUS IT WILL BE THE BEST 4-5 YEARS IN YOUR LIFE!

Good luck to you young man.

Not everyone can afford college... I agree that's the best route, but in reality huge student loans, family situations and many other factors come into affect. Try and swing it any way you can but it's not that simple.
