Use a percentage factor, the newer the car the higher the percentage.

This pertains to cars that have a damage indicator on a car fax report. Current and down to 2 yr old car figure the car is worth 25% less than a realistic current book retail value, 5 yr old cars are in the 20% less area and a 10 yr old car would be in the 10 % area. Eventually a car fax damage report means less and less as the car gets older.

Zl1

Is the insurance giving you any numbers? Let us know what u end up getting. My zl1 was hit while I was sitting at a stop light and this January will be two years. I have a lawyer working on my case and it’s still not resolved. When the accident happened it had 2500 miles on it 2017 z. Terrible lady was probably texting and driving

So my car had $6900 worth of damage.

USAA wants to give me $1900 in diminished value.

They are saying my car is worth 55k with no damage, and literally $1900 less after the accident.

I hired someone to help me with this and they estimated the DV to be alittle over 9k.

I am going to have the dealer give me a trade in estimate on it Friday and go from there.

Clearly USAA is giving me a low ball.

Ill keep every one posted.

Make sure you tell the dealer if the car will have a clean car fax report or not.

have the dealer give you a trade in value based on a clean car fax and a accident recorded car fax to show the difference.... and that will be your diminished value dollar amount proof from 1 dealer anyway. The other issue you need to remember is you do not suffer the loss until you actually trade or sell the car for less money than you could have if the car fax was clean. The ins company usually pays a loss when the loss is established (after the sale). The actual damage part of the loss you will be paid up front because you immediately have taken a loss in value to your auto. Once that damage is repaired you are considered whole again until you know sell the car and actually experience another loss due to the accident reported note on the car fax report.
