Just wanted to update. I replaced the stock chain with the C5R chain. The stock chain had a lot of slack in it without the stock tensioner in place. The C5R chain fit much tighter and I'm glad I decided to change it out.

Good choice. That is the only chain we use with all the Cam kit's we do. The cheaper $50 chain is ussually sloppy and stretches pretty good when some miles are on them.

So if you change from a tensioner to a dampner do you just not reinstall the tensioner? Thanks

GM PN for the 3 bolt cam gear is 12586481

I broke a stock chain. IMHO there were several contributing factors/parts to the failure.
1) Stock chain tensioner
2) UDP pulley
3) aftermarket cam with higher tension springs
4) HPDE events

To make sure it didn't happen again, I went with the LS2 chain dampener, ATI balancer & the Cloyes adjustable billet LS7 timing set (comes with the 3 bolt cam gear). Overkill I'm sure, but I did not want to break another chain. Also used an ARP crank bolt.

Put over 80k on that motor and put the same setup on my latest build

I would also recommend either 10295 or 10296 oil pump while there. I went with the 10295 with stock pressure spring installed.
