Ford Shelby Mustang GT500KR

Ford and Carroll Shelby revive yet another great performance moniker - the GT500 KR (King of the Road) - for 2008. Modifications to the 5.4-liter supercharged V8 allow the engine to produce 540 hp and 510 lb-ft, coupled through a Tremec 6-speed transmission. A retuned suspension package, consisting of unique springs, dampers and a strut tower brace, help the new KR handle better than its ancestor. Shelby tops it off with a carbon-fiber hood that emulates KRs of days past. The GT500 KR goes on sale in spring of 2008, but act fast - only 1000 will be built.

Okay, has nothing to do with the mustang, but those stripes on the side remind me of the old-school Z28 striping on my 79...do you think they'll do something like that on the 5th gen Camaro?

if only they put that hood on the 07 gt500. but other than that these gt500 stangs r looken bada$$. 5$ there gona come out with a CS mustang(california sumthin) next lol

Ok. I'm giving it up to Ford and Shelby. They just showed me the nicest looking Mustang I think I've ever seen. Yes. I would drive one. No. I wouldn't pay the 20K over sticker price everyone will have to pay to get one (probably more actually). That's a beautiful car right there. Very, very, very nice. Good job Carroll Shelby.

very beautiful car. and yes they will be over priced but there will be people who buy them. there is a tuning shop around the corner from me called evolution performance and they specialize in mustang and gt 500 tuning. the guy also has his own gt500 that he races. it was the first one in the 10's and 9's. the thing is quick as hell. hopefully he buys one so i can check it out up close and see it ripping up the streets.

they will keep pumping out special ed. as long as people are buying them. they are trying to get as many out the door as they can before the camaro comes and ruins fords fun.

With only 1000 units the out-the-door cost of these cars may very well hit 6 figures. Ford says they're building these cars for the enthusiasts but 99% of them will never get any closer to this car than the velvet rope that surrounds it in the showroom.
