first 24 hrs

Ok I know it's been asked what song are you going to play first in your car. but what are your plans for the first 24 hrs?

well I plan to take a week of leave right after I get mine. but the first 24hrs I'm going to probably drive it around and show her off to friends and family and then that evening I'm going to have a cook out and just put some chairs out in the front yard with a nice cigar and bottle of jack daniels i'm going to sit there and stair at her for the next few hours. admiring how perfect she is.

I'm bragging. Showing it off to all friends/family, etc. (it'll probably take 24 hours! )
you wouldn't believe how many folks doubt that I'm getting this car. I'l show them! *rev engine*
But after I'm done...I'm washing it. yup. Within 24 hours of pickup.

I think my plan within the first 24-48 hours is to take a mini-trip somewhere, just me and my new Camaro. I figure it's a good way to put some miles on the car towards end of break-in and also so I don't have to share it with anyone else that might want a ride or just wanting to oggle. Once I'm back from my trip then I'll give her the first wash and share it with family/friends

My ideal scenario;

After a loonngg, sleepless, nite. :o

Sat. morning;

9:00AM I take my Dad to pick "him" up. I spend some time at the dealer, taking the "delivery pictures".
11:00AM Introduce "him" to his "brother" ('99 SS)
Noon I take anyone, and everyone, for a ride.
3:00PM Just the two of us, out for a nice, long cruise.
5:00PM I take "him" to the local automotive store for some new "toys".
7:00PM I park "him" in the garage, where I spend quite a while admiring "him".
8:00PM I go out to the garage to take another look.
9:00PM (see above)
10:00PM (see above)
11:00PM (see above)
12:00AM (MUST GO TO BED!) Take another peek.
1:00AM-6:00 NO sleep

Sunday morning;

7:00AM Go out to the garage and bring him outside
7:15AM His first bath
8:00AM The detailing begins along with his first coat of Zaino
9:00AM Finish detailing and time for another ride!

I'll probably drive her straight home to some Rob Zombie or something equally as awesome, lift her up, change the oil to synthetic, get to know her from the inside out, (no pun intended), sleep with her, then in the morning, (probably at 4:AM when the roads are empty), see what she's got on an empty straight toll road. When the sun comes out, I'll take her through some winding hill-country roads to see how she handles. Then, when all the shopping centers and malls are closed, I'm going to give all those little security dudes something to chase. I'll leave some nice dark chocolate donuts for them to clean up in the morning.

Moose has it scripted down to the hour (and sometimes even minutes)... I think he'll have most of us beat in terms of preparedness for the first 24 hours

no one believes im gettin it either...lol...but i am, ill scrub refuse from public washrooms to get this car

im also doing exactly that, showin off, but AFTER i get a nice flowmaster exhaust system on, and spend a weekend with the interior taken out installing a nice sound system, not some gino bambino, rattle ur teeth out system, but a nice crisp sounding, accurate, powerful system...lookin for awesome sound quality!

so yea, i am going to dissect my camaro within the first 24 hours of getting it.....after i take off about 10 000 km (canadian ) of tread from the back tires install an exhaust sys, a sound sys, put the interior back in, and then use about 2 tanks of gas driving around with every good rock song i know!!!

:o Oh. I've been planning this day ever since I heard my favorite car was coming back!

That version I posted was just the abbreviated one!

(Maybe I need to seek "help"??? :o )

Hmm, lets see . . . assuming i pick it up on a saturday morning

9:00
pick it up
9:01 aquire a big stupid grin
9:15 get gas
9:20 start taking the longest trip back home possible listening to that beautiful V8
10:30 give 'him' his first bath (lets face it, if this Camaro is a 'she' its one ugly lady!)
12:00 have lunch while staring at the Camaro
12:30 tour the country side
3:00 time for more gas
3:30 visit some friends and family
6:00 park him for the night
7:00 discuss day with the Camaro here at camaro5
8:00 go out and look at the Camaro
9:00 still out there
9:30 go out for another drive
12:00 park him for the night . . . again
12:30 - 7:00 try to sleep . . . wont be able to stop thinking about my new best friend

The next day

7:00 give him another bath
8:00 get more gas
8:15 begin another 'get to know you day' of driving

I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do. Depends on where I pick it up from. I will probably plan on getting to the dealership around 9 to fill out paperwork and whatnot, with a suitcase of my downpayment handcuffed to my wrist (I've always wanted to do that):

11:00 AM: Cruise down 280 till Saratoga, and take Highway 9 up to 35
12:20 PM 35 North to 84. Have lunch at Alice's Restaraunt
2:00 PM: Take 84 out to Highway 1.
2:25 PM Cruising a few miles under the speed limit enjoying the topless sunny warm coastal Highway 1 North along the coast to San Francisco and the Cliffhouse for dinner, Paying for a "valet" park it yourself spot right in front of the window so I can admire it while having a very nice dinner.
6:30 ish PM Cruise down to Santana Row and spend the night at the Hotel Valencia while having my baby 20 feet below my room window with 24 hour valet surveillance as well as several people taking pictures of my new baby next to the Lambourghini's, Porsches and Ferrari's they valet in front of the entrance to draw crowds.

My Camaro won't be a "he" for it's too sexy to be a male figure. She's got the wide ass, curves in the right places (hourglass), and just the right mixture of hard body lines and attitude that makes this temptress hard to ignore. Plus she looks DROP DEAD GORGEOUS in the sunlight. The kind that make you want to act out this scene.

I don't plan on riding my engine hard/racing until it's worn in. I want to get in touch with the car and learn how she likes to be handled. I'll get her up and running, but I won't go all out for at least a week or a few. Once I know her, I'll start getting down to bidness. Having not driven a stick very often since the ACR vipers on Laguna Seca, I don't wanna dump the clutch and have something go wrong, or wear the engine in too hard.

Hit up some local roads and do my best to contain my enthusiasm behind the wheel. I'd probably pick up one of my best buddies and paint the town driving all over the place and hopefully scooping a few fly-honeys along the way.

Deliver day…

Dealer call taking on secure land-line Camaro only phone, informing me she’s here. Mines red with a flashing light… What you don’t have one?

Nano seconds later I starting jumping up and down screaming like a young school girl who just got asked out by the star quarterback…

Minutes later I gather my composure and clean my self up, including changing my pants. Walk to the front door then back to my room to change pants for a second time…

I then alert my brother and father on secure Nextel Camaro only phones… What???

They escort me to the dealership making sure I do not assault the wash-boy for touching and or driving my baby in an improper manner…

My bother then helps me sign on the dotted line due to the fact that my body is shaking valiantly form all the excitement. This is where my salesman will not remember me being epileptic when I placed my order…

I then proudly walk out to her with the biggest smile I probably will ever have on my face…

I’ll start her up and just listen to LS symphony play. Probably even get misty eyed…

I will then slowly let the clutch out and stall her embarrassingly because my legs are no longer working; again due to all the excitement… Of course my brother will be laughing at me from the passenger seat the whole time…

We’ll go for a ride and just enjoy the moment…

^ See above with father, rest of family, and friends…

I’ll then go for a cruise by myself to feel her out.

Once home I pull her in the garage and check her out from front to back…

By that time it will be bedtime so I will unzip the zipper on my sleeping bag, hit the remote to turn out the light, throw my arm over her, and fall asleep dreaming about driving her tomorrow…
