I got the black one in Frankfort. Already financed, only need to fly out to sign papers.

I have to agree with the wrapped hood. I have never liked that on any 1LE. I like the looks of paint better. The wheels are ok, but the ZL1 are better.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the hood either.. I get why it's that way, it's just not for me.

I actually liked the wrapped hood on a HBM V6 1LE I saw recently. It just doesn't work for me on the ZL1 1LE.

Little UPDATE to this thread:

My brother is the one who ended up purchasing this car. We do not understand why there seemed to be an issue purchasing the car.

We didn't find out about the car until afternoon on Wed. We were driving the car to lunch less than 48 hours later. We ended up finalizing the deal the same day we contacted the dealership about the car. There WAS a lot of action on this car. We could tell immediately that the dealership was not playing games and wanted the car sold ASAP.

My brother has a 2016 GT350 he was going to trade in but it was clear from the first conversation with Jeff that there simply was not time to mess with a trade. Jeff made it clear that in order to end up with this car we had to fly to Texas and pay for the car ASAP. NO trades. NO deal over the phone. NO holding the car. So guess what? We agreed to his terms and agreed to buy the car and pick it up-in person-no later than Friday that week.

Bottom Line, the car was a great deal at $4k UNDER MSRP. We saw no reason to do anything but was asked of us. They wanted a quick and easy deal that was priced to SELL> That is what we did. We didn't muddy the water with trades or a difficult to do out of state deal.

Car is amazing. Jeff is amazing. The dealership is amazing. After finishing up the paperwork Friday morning and kicking each other to make sure it was real-we took Jeff and his buddy Wyatt from the dealership to Gas Monkey Bar and Grill for lunch, grabbed some pictures and drove it back to the dealership so that it could get picked up by transport the next day.

OVERALL-A wonderful experience. JEFF is AWESOME!!!!

SOOOO...my brother got a 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE for $4k under sticker and has a wonderful story to go with the car.

I live 4 miles from Road America. Hoping to have his car broken in by AUG 18th. We will be running this ZL1 1LE and my GT350R back to back at the track. I can't wait to feel the differences. Both will be running the same brake compounds (G-LOC 16 Front and G-LOC 10 Rear) and brake fluid (SRF) so braking should be equal. Both will have similar alignments (Roughly -2.5 F and -1.6 R) so TORQUE should be the word of the day. I expect total domination over my GT350R at a long track like Road America.

Quick Review: GT350R vs ZL1 1LE Keep in mind -this is MY opinion. I will have GPS timed laps in both at Road America to compare. This is a 10 mile drive in a ZL1 1LE not broken in, not revving above 4K so it is only a opinion with limited exposure to the ZL1 1LE. I have 4500 miles on my GT350R>

After a quick drive in both back to back on the street (Roughly 10 miles) here are a couple of MY impressions (Keep in mind I own a GT350R so I am a little biased ):

-Suspension Feel: ZL1 1LE HOLY CRAP the 1LE is STIFF and AWESOME. GT350R feels very mild compared to the ZL1 1LE on the street. Curious to see how they compare at the track. I have driven my GT350R quite a bit at the track and it does not feel soft-it works well. I am sure the ZL1 1LE will work even better-it should! The stiffness compared to a GT350R in SPORT mode is significantly stiffer-not even close. Let's say 2.5X as stiff-Seriously! The 1LE rides rough. I DO very much like the 1LE's feeling. I LOVE the idea behind the ZL1 1LE. The suspension is going to be incredible at the track and I am very excited to drive it. I really think this car is going to DOMINATE on tracks!

If you are not going to track the car DO NOT BUY THIS CAR. Let the guys who are going to track it enjoy these cars in their natural environment. Not to mention it will literally beat the hell out of you!

-Steering feel- GT350R I prefer the GT350R to the ZL1 1LE on the street-again let's revisit after a couple sessions on the track.

-Brake Feel- GT350R Not fair since the GT350R is running GLOC 16/8 Brake pad combo and the ZL1 1LE has 92 miles on stock brakes that are not even bedded in. Hands down GT350R currently-however I am positive with the upgraded pads, the ZL1 1LE and GT350R should be very similar.

-Transmission Feel: GT350R I do prefer the GT350R's transmission shifting feel, but it is close and I think it will come down to personal taste. In either car if you miss a gear it is your own fault. Both feel very good with 0 mush.

-Clutch Feel: GT350R I do prefer the GT350R's clutch feel. The biggest reason for this is the difficulty getting away from a stop in the ZL1. It seems to bog. It could be me. I will update as I get miles on the car.

-Engine: ZL1 1LE Okay, this is tough here...
-Powerband and torque: Without question the ZL1 1LE has it all over the poor Shelby. Power everywhere in this car. I love it! It is going to dominate at the track!! **The one thing I will say about the Shelby is that the more you work the car, the more it goes! Obvious? Right? I seriously love N/A cars and it is a fun car to row through the gears and if you can drive, you will be surprised what you can keep up with (and pass).
-Sound: No contest GT350R. I have no idea why GM did not uncork the ZL1 1LE??? The engine sounds amazing when you can hear it.

Looks: DRAW I think they both look amazing side by side. I think the ZL1 1LE looks much more aggressive. Totally subjective. Very tough to call. I think both Ford and GM did a superb job on both cars.

Interior: DRAW This is again subjective. I prefer the GT350R's overall interior look, but I am very impressed with GM's design and I can see how many people would prefer it over the Mustangs. I think the HUD is phenomenal on the ZL1 1LE-clean and easy to read. I really like the seats in the ZL1 1LE as well. I know there has been criticism on the seats, but they are seriously comfortable and grippy. The GT350R's bolstering is more aggressive, but the ZL1 1LE seat is more comfortable. And neither seat is a race seat anyway. After thinking about the positives and negatives of both I am going to give it a DRAW

OVERALL: I will reserve judgement until after AUG 18th. The ZL1 1LE is designed for the track and has some serious compromises for the track environment. I LOVE driving the GT350R on track, let's see how this ZL1 1LE drives-that is what really counts to me.

I would buy this car. I think it is AWESOME GM is stepping up to build a car that is this hardcore out of the box. If you haven't driven one-it is a fun car that let's you know it is serious about one thing only-TRACK TIME. Awesome car that I would highly recommend IF you track your car. IF you do not, but the regular ZL1.
