Just did 250 miles of interstate at an average speed of 70 and got 33.4 mpg! Wow!! That tall 7th gear and cylinder deactivation really did the trick. And this was on an engine with just over 1000 miles. I'm impressed.

My other car I drive most is an H3 Hummer. The c7 beats it on mpg every day of the week, uphill, downhill and I'm sure in track mode as well. LOL

Remarkable gas mileage in such a high performance car. Have you tried the same cruising speed with all cylinders firing, and noticed the average mpg? I'd be curious to know about the effect of the 7th gear by itself. If I pay for 8 cylinders, I want them firing all the time. I still remember the 80's Cadillac that went from 8 cylinders to 6 to 4 and, sometimes, 0. Ha haa!

We experienced great mileage too
We took a trip to Madison, IN from Kokomo, IN and averaged 37.7 mpg. We couldn't believe it. We had the car in economy mode, cruise control at 70 mph. I saw a review in Road & Track magazine, and the C7 they were testing averaged 35. Unbelievable for a Corvette. Another added benefit of owning a C7. I also have a Prius. It gets 45 all the time, but no one talks to me at traffic lights!

My "other" car is a 08FORD Escape Hybrid,, that is averaging around 33+ overall but never do I get a crowd around it OR a look while driving it!! The 50 mile average in the photo did include the ~7 miles down the Cajon Pass, coasting downhill over 80mph... but it was still impressive!

I also had a 38.2 MPG 50 mile segment that was somewhat helped by an extended 4 mile gentle downhill.
Mine is the 7 speed. I find that anything below 70 MPH in 7th gear and ECO mode does not work well. The RPMs are too low for the engine to run smoothly in 4 cyl mode. For smooth 4 cyl operation, the RPMs need to be at least 1400. If running at 60-65 MPH, I keep it in 6th gear when in ECO. |

Economy mode, never tried it! It's a corvette not a Prius.
