Could be because the "Mutang" has always out-souled (yes, I can spell) the competition... Plenty of fanboys (and girls), and for good reason. While some of you guys don't like Mutangs due to their less flamboyant appearance, that's exactly why others prefer them.

I can't speak for anyone other than myself, but what is going on with the 2010 Camaro is exactly what happened when the 2005 Mustang came out. When that bodystyle was intially introduced, the hype around the car was palpable. I purchased one of the first one's in my area and, yes, I experienced the exact same thing as you described with people coming up to me to take pictures of the car and wanting to ask me about it. And it was just a GT.

I agree. The 2010-2011 was just a reskin and, while I am happy to see the new engine offerings, I believe the hype centers around the 5.0 badge that's going on the 2011's versus any ballyhoo over the styling. No doubt the Mustang will get a complete redesign in the next few years. That's simply the nature of the automobile business.

The 2010 Camaro is hot not just because of the styling or performance, but because its the first real ponycar GM has produced since 2002. It's an complete package.

Sounds like you quoted from the GM talking points regarding the car. It is most cetainly retro in its styling. It's those very cue's you speak of (i.e. the side windows, gills, roofline, etc.) that make it a retro design. I get that GM did not set out to reproduce the exact styling of the 1st Gen Camaro, but there is no denying that those cars were used as the baseline. It's as much retro as the 2005 Mustang was when it was introduced. It has nothing in common with the 4th Gen cars that proceeded it.

KM--I agree with you personally, but I have to be as objective as possible, and the lack of a convertible weighs heavily against the Camaro in the style category. Even though I could care less about convertibles of any sort, personally.

Those of you that claim you hate the Mustang should be grateful that it has stuck around. And those of you that dog the Camaro should be almost as grateful it has forced Ford too up the power in the GT.

Absolutely true. I'm liking all the new muscle cars; yes, even the Camaro... I'm hoping to add a Z/28 to the stable (if one ever shows up), and maybe even an SRT8 Chally...
I wouldn't bother checking out these forums, if I weren't also a fan of the Camaro.
