I use the shoes for any olympic lifting I do as well as front squatting, but not the for the regular power lifts. I go either barefoot or in my NB Minimus.

It's been proven in one of those studies

I think I am going to give the BSN supplements a try. Everyone seems to like them and they are relatively inexpensive.

In other news my ex had her appointment with her oncologist today. The cancer has come back and its stage IV :(
I prefer to squat bare foot. Just seems best for me. Sorry to hear about your ex.

I feel that consuming proteins and carbs pre/post workout are essential for maximizing muscle gains and minimizing muscle break down, they say breakfast is the most important meal but for those who weight train pre/post workout is the most important.

Appreciate the info. I've told him he should take protein prior to working out, but he's been doing it this way for decades. So I doubt he'll change now. He has crazy beliefs like just before his workout he takes three or four ounces of warm water and add a tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar and a squirt of agave. He tells me it's very important to keep the body more alkaline. I've gotta admit he never gets sick even with people coughing all around him. But the part I can't stand is he does the water and vinegar thing again later in the day, but he adds a chopped up clove of garlic. Swallows the garlic like a vitamin, and he said that's why he doesn't get sick - - - I say its because HE STINKS LIKE GARLIC! Oh well, the old fart is in pretty good shape so I really can't complain.

Welcome! I usually add 2-4 scoops to a gallon of water and sip at it all day. Great stuff!

I can't do it either. Even though the janitors are constantly cleaning the Gym I work out at.

Figured I'd post...

Haven't said anything but I've been having leg pain. Figured it was just from me being a little heavy right now and running twice a week.

Well the short version is pain has gotten worse. The good news is it only hurts when the spot is touched with a decent amount of pressure but it's intense. Like a lighter being held to my leg. Other than that it doesn't hurt...I can tell there's issue there but it doesn't "hurt". The spot is about 2" above my ankle bone and is centralized to a spot about an inch in diameter.

So suppose to start back on the weights next week. I tell Monique about it and ask her since she is a PT to see what she thinks. She puts me through a series of tests. No ligament, no tendon problem....

So based on what she said, and what the doc said yesterday I went to it seems I have a stress fracture :( I go for a bone scan next week.

If you learn one thing from me it should be that if it doesn't feel right it most likely isn't. I'm paying the price now for my pigheadedness, don't do the same. LOL.

I hear ya man......been fighting through a shouldler impingement for a couple yrs so I could barely lift and only been back in it for 5-6 months now. Just last couple weeks I've started doing chest again with bench. The only exercise that bothers me is flat bench.....slowly working into it.

What, everyone quit working out. LOL

It may sound odd but I'm so looking forward to going under the knife next Thursday to get this over with. Not only am I not working out, I'm not doing much of anything, the hernia has been getting worse, even walking is uncomfortable now so I've been doing very little, boy this sucks.

No lol. It's been a month to the day.

But I'm going to start back next week. Playing around tonight and tomorrow. Went to 315 on the bench tonight...going to 405 squatting tomorrow...just seeing how things feel. Shoulder and elbow feel ok.

Have a bone scan scheduled for the 23rd for my leg but I think I'm going to see an ortho first.
