The fact that Dodge discontinued the "Core" models in the second year should be evidence enough that they failed. I have yet to see one.
Damn, why so childish and insulting?

Whelp, I'm one of them fools who's gonna drop on the R/T Scat Pack. Not you specifically, peeps in general.

-Transmission - 8 speed - the same one that goes in the BMW's. Great trans, fast, fast shifting, and makes the car much more efficient, 25 mpg freeway. First automatic car I have owned since '93.
-Shaker hood - If I gotta explain, you're a lost cause.
-Much happier with grill and especially taillights.
-Interior, yeah some of us old guys like nice interiors, I would think a guy with a Caddy would get that
-Yep, less money, $2000 less than the core - with a shaker?? YESSSS!!!
-I've wanted one for 5 years, but if I don't see (what I perceive) as a good value, I won't buy it. This hits my value button.

What makes you think the Core was discontinued? It is now, but you can't order '14's now. They are rare, partly because Dealers don't order them for the lots, they make more money on the regular SRT8. It's also easier to have an regular SRT8 to display and let people sit in. SRT's, in general, are rare. The dealer I deal with can - easily - sell every one they get. It's been 6 months since a SRT8 Grand Cherokee has shown up, and they have orders in for them.

Also, the closest Core to Detroit is 150 miles away. I was at my dealer pricing it. No rebate on the Core either, but there's $3000 on the R/T. Just to be competitive, price wise, with the '15, it needs a $2000 rebate.

Thanks, 2doorrocket, now ... more, More, MORE!!!

It doesn't seem that way with all the post you have in this thread. Unless you're just fishing for an argument.

Isn't Subline fantastic. I like it with the black out hood and black rims.

So you bought a Challenger to get attention? Nearly 240,000 Challengers on the road in the U.S. - not exactly a rare site.

Better than which Camaro? By what measure? The ZL1 has been around since 2012. Where has Dodge been?

ZF transmissions are used in MANY cars, I have one in my LR and it's swell. It is evident Dodge owners have been suffering with the 5-speed slushbox for so long they are overjoyed...by a modern transmission. Shaker hood, tail lights, grill are cosmetic bits. The interior, meh, it's a pony car, no one shops pony cars for their interiors unless you have special needs. Basically it boils down to a perceived value for you and the SRT core models were still not seen as a value, even though that was the entire reason for their existence. Interesting.

The fact that it is no longer offered makes me think it was discontinued. They are rare because they didn't sell. Of course they make more on the more expensive SRT. This is why I am asking what about the R/T shatpack will lead to sales where the SRT bore models failed? In your opinion it is the extra three cogs, cosmetic bits and refreshed interior at a slight discount. I hope you're right but it's going to upset 07-SRT as there will be too many on the streets and he'll have to buy a BRZ.

It's the amusing perceptions of Mopar fans that keeps bringing me back. Saying 700hp and 8 speeds to a Dodge fan is like shining a laser pointer in front of a cat. They become obsessed with it even though it is beyond the reach of 99.99% of them. Based on the reviews so far it appears Dodge has dumped a big heavy powertrain in an outdated platform. At least Hemi Dave likes it with his subject assessment above. In my opinion the retro-muscle car theme is played out. The Camaro and Mustang have moved to create broad appeal with lighter, more engaging platforms. I thought the 'Cuda was supposed to move in this direction but last I heard the project was pushed back to 2018. Disappointing to say the least.

707 horsepower and a 6 speed manual is not engaging.

I learn a lot on this site.

You Might want to go back and read my post again. I never said Challenger. I simply said SRT- (look at my Sig) I never said I did it for attention, I simply stated fact. Actually I had #667 out of 1000 Super Bees made for 2007. If I wanted attention I would have just kept that. I kept the other Charger SRT and I didn't care for the Mustang 5.0 I had, so I decided on a 2014 SS. I was simply stating facts. I know YOU see Camaros and Mustangs everyday, but I'm willing to bet YOU don't see SRT's everyday- So yes, it is a rare site.

Dude, it's obvious you dislike Mopar and will say only negative things. Not everyone sees things that way and you wont change any minds. Why continue to waste your time?

The only reasoning I can think of is that MEDISIN must have had his CTSV’s A!s Handed to it by a 392 SRT Challenger and he just can’t get over it. I mean if I had to drive around in a car associated with AARP and the morning YMCA water aerobics class I’d be bitter too.

There's a lot of butt hurt in this thread. Here's some relief:

I am taking a wait and see approach to this animal. I'm NOT going to be a first tester of a new Challenger seeing that there's 3 people at work that bought various versions of them V6, R/T and SRT8, and all 3 have had moderate to severe issues with quality. May be a fluke, but they haven't proven any reliability into their product to me simply based on what I've seen.

Maybe if they actually made a convertible, it might draw more people to the car, but I got a feeling the car isn't that sturdy to support a convertible model. I dunno. I've always hated that fact that they wouldn't offer a factory convertible option. I think they'd look better without a top.

So far, there's nothing that I've seen that makes me want to run down to the Dodge dealer and want to be in line for order.

Could they muffle that s/c whine a bit? My god that would be annoying. The ZL1 does it too, but it doesn't seem as bad.

The HP chasers will continuously be happy here, but I warn everyone THESE ARE THE SALAD DAYS OF HP to which we may never see anything like this again. Whatever flavor you choose, you can't be wrong. But get in the game if you want power. Nothing lasts forever. The EPA agreement the monkey CEOs agreed to is looming...

In a few years, people will wax on about "Remember when you could buy these monsters new?" So go out and get that Z06/GT/SS/ZL1/RT/Z28/Hellcat/Cobra/ZR1 or whatever floats your boat now before it's all over.

Challenger at the time wasn't even a match for my stock SS. It's always the V6 Challengers that drive flat-out which makes me laugh, the SRT's are usually older guys out cruising, will stop and chat with me. At 34, I have a long way to go before I am AARP eligible. I grew up in a Mopar house and I respect the storied history from 40+ years ago. Dodge just seems a day late and a dollar short now which is disappointing as they do so many things right. All the hype leading up to the new and improved Viper proved to be deflating. The 'Cuda was pushed back into obsolescence by FCA. A Jeep is the best selling SRT - and that's in jeopardy. The 300 SRT axed because it isn't selling. And just as Ford starts production on the 6th gen Mustang and Chevrolet turns its eyes to the Camaro on Alpha, here comes the Hellokitty, three years too late.
