OK so should I be upset that my supposed best friends, after saying we would have a 4th of July party (I asked them months ago) are having a BBQ and didn't invite me?

Some friends. Glad I've been making new ones.

yeah, that's a little messed up. maybe she figured you already knew and planned on coming? like one of those times when you don't really need to invite your best friend because it's already a given, type thing
