I would like to try this out as many others would I am sure.
But have Zero interest in having to sit through sessions of show offs whoop up on others.
Just like other racing it would problably be best to have a separate class.

There are separate classes. When you register online, the information you provide goes into a formula that generates the class you run in. When you go through tech at the FEST, they make sure you are in the correct class.

CamaroFEST is ABSOLUTELY the place to try this out. Get registered and come and see me when you get to the FEST. I will make sure you are hooked up with a good coach / instructor for at least one or two runs and that you get to ride with some that are proficient in this style of driving. I'll have tech support on site. We can help you with tire pressures and in general make sure you have a great first experience, which is what CamaroCross is all about.

If you have ever thought about autocross, this is THE event to try it. Pete as well as many of your Camaro brethren will help out anybody that asks.

Ok, I have never done this and kind of wanted to but we are drag racing the car and I want it in the show, am I going to have time to do this and can I do this with the convertible without a roll bar? This is our first Camarofest and want to get the most out of our time there.

Why is there not going to be a walk-through of the course?

Also... is there going to be more than the usual cones (like at the last fest) or will it be the fewer cones like the fest in Houston?

I'm going to say it's a time constraint issue, but it should be allowed and encouraged if at all possible. With concrete walls lining the track, I would seriously recommend a walk so folks have some idea of what and where to be when running the course. Every course is different so cone counts could be all over the place. I think a walk will solve issues of delays when folks are both working the course, and driving the course.
Pete care to chime in on this safety issue?
