If they can program it to change settings when it senses it is going through an emmissions test cycle could they also program one to sense when it's on a chassis dyno to provide inflated HP and torque values for magazine testing? Makes ya think...

they could I guess, but theyre not selling their diesel cars with HP and TQ numbers. theyre selling them with MPG numbers. so while I assume they could do it, they probably didn't. that's just my opinion anyway.

I should have been clearer. I was talking about performance cars not diesels..
If it works for Diesels it should work for any engine... Isn't that essentially what performance tunes do? Reprogram the engine computer to lean more to performance than economy and emissions but without the part that can sense when it is on a test cycle.
