To an extent, I agree with you. I am not making excuses for any dogs behavior and have had to put a dog down due to aggression (altho his was towards humans not other animals due to severe abuse) But at the end of the day, they are still just dogs. Unfornately for the OP, his dogs need some help. Only experienced dog handlers should own certain breeds and pitbulls is one of them. They need a very strong, stern owner. They are a stubborn breed and will push their limits to the end which is why many of them wind up in trouble. But in this scenerio, the dogs sound like this was a dominate issue and the gf got in the middle. The dogs should not be put down b/c of this. They did not attack her, she stuck her hand in the middle of a fight, a big no-no! These dogs need to be seperated and fixed (if they arent already) I would suggest finding the male pitbull a new home to avoid problems. Also OP and his gf needs some dog training.

If you are going to live with a pack of dogs (more than one) then you better be the pack leader. If your dogs, any breed, fight among each other, even if it is just every now and then... news flash... you're not the pack leader.

Agreed. Being a pack leader even with a small dog is ideal. I have ran a house successfully of 7 of my own dogs plus rescues coming in and out with ZERO fights. It can be done with multiple dogs of various backgrounds but knowing dog behavior and training is a MUST!

I have contributed all I can, if you don't do the right thing and something terrible happens, sucks, but that's on you.

Only other thing I can say of any value is that MY pit bulls DO know what they're talking about and I do listen to them closely. We gab all the time!

Personally, I can't stand dogs. They stink, they're too much work and too needy for my liking. Plus I just can't repsect an animal that just shits wherever it feels like. How disgusting is that?
You've never read in the news that a cat has mauled a kid to death.

I know a child was not involved and the female intervened, I asked, what if? Suppose the couple never has kids, fine. Neighbors could have unknowing naive youth that jumps the fence to retrieve a ball and gets mauled or worse, killed. I keep my position on this one and stand my ground.

.44 MAG OR if you're some shiny fuzzy happy tree hugging hippie peta animal lover garbage, take the vicious animal (if your fuzzy happy tree hugging ass can get it in a pen to do so) to a veterinarian for a nice painless hippie dope shot to give it a nice long permanent nap.

So, you believe that if any dog ever shows any aggression it should be put down? Man, that's rough.

I will agree that if an animal shows recurring/chronic uncontrolled agression, then it's gotta go. But in this SPECIFIC instance, I don't think that is the case.

My biggest issue with this whole scenario is that people have been trained over the years to automatically blame a pit bull for any attack.

I also sincerely hope your hippie comments are directed at someone other than me, because that only goes to show how poor you are at judging people.

Maybe not, but cat bites are worse than dog bites. Most dog bites are crush wounds, and only 5% of them become infected. In comparison, 80% of cat bites become infected, mostly with a strain of Eikenella, which is very virulent, and requires hospitalization in nearly 10% of cases. Cat bites get infected more often because they tend to be puncture wounds - their sharp teeth are like needles, injecting the bacteria deep into the flesh.
Just wanted to share.....

Infection or not, a cat is completely incapable of tearing a child's throat out or face off with its bite.

A dog can do both of those things. Also, by their very nature cats are cowards. If they feel threatened their first instinct is to flee and hide, unlike dogs who are far more likely to become aggressive than a cat when they feel threatened. And if a cat ever does bite, there's nothing about a cat bite that can't be cured with a bar of soap, warm water, alcohol and bandages. Let's see those things fix a kid who's been mauled by a pit bull.

Just sayin.

To be honest, I can't stand all pets...they're all just such a bother...but if I had to have one (and I unfortunately do) it would be a cat over a dog anytime.
