the air lid is an aftermarkit lid for the LS1 camaros, and the MAF is the Mass Air Flow sensor (tells the ecu how much fuel to shoot in relation to the amount of air that is flowing into the engine)

Thanks, but why replace the stock MAF sensor, unless your adding some sort of forced induction?
Btw, I always called them MAP sensors, am I thinking of a totally different compnent? Sorry for the questions :p, this is it. |

you can add a horse or two by descreening it and porting it. plus, like most things on a car, the stock one does wear out after a while. and if ur like me, if ur already replacing, why not upgrade?

MAP and MAF are two different TYPES of sensor, not dependant on age or car company. To this day, different manufacturers/models perfer different meterings. MAP (simply put) measure the pressure of the air inside the manifold to determine how much air is moving in to the engine.
MAF has the air actually pass through an array of wires that react to the flow of air and produce a voltage represetning volume to the ECU. |

gotcha, both Camarospike, and MerF... to replace one of these with one designed to tell the ECU allow a little more fuel in, would result in few more horses. But sometimes a MAP, or MAF replacement is neccessary when adding Forced Induction, which adds more air than the original senors were designed to sense, right?

The MAF sensor however, since it IS a screen the air is pulled through (or pushed in the case of forced induction), does benefit from a larger size. More surface area means less restriction of the air passing through it, which means more efficiency, which means more power. |

Click on the induction one and you'll see... MAF, Lid, Smooth Bellows, and air filter. |

Psh, don't worry about it, I had forgotten I asked!
I remember you said the tranny was smooth, but how was the clutch specifically? |

Everything about it was smooth. Very easy to drive. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice car. I just feel as though it's lacking in the power department. I would like to take one of those supercharged roush mustangs for a spin. Then maybe I'd have a little more respect for the mustang. :p

Thanks
You see, I'm debating what I might want to get in my 'Maro, stick or Auto. I've weighed out all the pros and cons, but still can't decide. However...the kicker is that I've never actually driven a stick. I know how, I just don't have a feel for it. I've been meaning to go for a test-drive in a Mustang just to get a minor feel. If you wouldn't mind; How did you go about doing it, just walk in and tell 'em you want to test out a stick Mustang, or did you set an appointment up via Web/phone? |

Nope, just went up there and played it like I was interested in getting one and they brought the keys out so I could take a look inside. Then I asked if I could take it for a spin. They copied my driver's license and grabned a license plate and I was off. Piece of cake.
