I look upon it as an opportunity to educate. As far as acceleration, of course it is ridiculous to think that the 2011 GT is going to be capable of low 12 second quarter miles like the GT500, and I never suggested the same. That said, it will be a rock solid high 12 second car that laps some tracks as fast or faster than the outgoing 2010 GT500.

Basics of design, an OHV engine simply cannot rev as high as an OHC piece without encountering valve float.

But for 2011 you don't, since those parts come standard on the Mustang GT now. Of course, the truth is that it was a ridiculous argument in the first place but I digress.

Anyways. Dont you think its funny that ford had to upgrade the suspension of the gt to make it more competitive with the ss...with no suspension options?

They upgraded the suspension to make it superior to the SS, not competitive.

So your going to tell me that power cant overcome a weight issue? LOL. How the hell do you think the gt500 gets around?

I'm saying it will always be hindered by a weight issue... imagine how amazing the GT500 would be if it weighed what a Corvette weighs.

Ever notice the gtr is also 3900 lbs. Not saying the Camaro is anywhere near that level of handleing, but its stupid to think that power doesnt help.

GTR has AWD and a twin turbo engine which really puts out close to 550hp... along with one of the most advanced and expensive suspensions in the world. Horrible example.

Anyways buddy you can bench race away, while I actually have my car.

When did I bench race?

Yes mustang drivers are mostly tools...thats why they come here instead of going to mustang sites. They dont even get along with each other.

Yes and Camaro drivers all have Mullets and deal drugs when they aren't sleeping with their sister. Any other Stereotypes you want to bring up?

Have fun on $1000 cams alone. Your car is going to get walked mod for mod. If you ever get one, and are not just a mouth behind a keyboard.

Modding the cars is more about a person's bank account... which is why this argument is dismissed. But hey, your a N00b so you probably haven't seen it 10000 times like I have

There are more non-Camaro drivers in here than Camaro drivers.

GOOD LORD... that completely goes against your theory... as the numbers show that the Camaro is certainly more capable than the GT.. but damn near as fast as the GT500. Sadly.. both the GT and the SS are better race track runners than the much more expensive and much more powerful GT500.

You call two seconds damn near as fast. I guess you never watched racing before.

Well after all, the thread is about mustangs.

Funny thing here is the thread was started by a chevy guy. Look at his garage. Face it this is what makes this forum great. If the mods only let chevy guys in and kept it all business it would be just as boring as most of the mustang sites. I do like Teamshelby.com though. Those guys seem pretty nice so far, and I've learned a lot. Chevys aren't chevys without fords and ford aren't fords without chevys. It would suck to go to any race track and watch all one brand compete. That would be like watching the same football team play each other every week.

This is not a mustang VS camaro thread. It turned into one like they all do.
I hate to tell you but it takes two to tango.

Just for the record, if I remember my facts correctly, the "track-pack" was a planned option on the 2010 Mustang GT well before the Camaro started hitting the streets. It's not like Ford said, "Hey, the Camaro SS is kicking our butts in the handling department, what can we do?" It might work that way on the streets, but if you're running a business, putting an option like that on the table takes months, if not years of planning in order to implement. It was not Ford being reactive, it was Ford being proactive.
