Awesome, I'll look into it

Siiiigh.

Looking through old emails when I should be studying for Biology or Chemistry.

This school year isn't even over yet and I'm already thinking about stuff I should've done...but was too clueless and hesitant to do.

hey, X

i know it don't help you none, but now that i've drove Chris's car, i know for a fact that the LLt just wouldn't do it for me. heck a stock LS3 wouldn't even do it... but that's me - the guy who even wants his truck to go fast

LMAO. Well, I drove a mostly stock LS3 (intake and axle-back, no tune) and I know for a fact that the LS3 would definitely do it for me in the power department.

The thing I'm trying to figure out is if I could get a V6 to that point.

Here's the rub:

............................LS....................................... 1SS
MSRP:............ 23,530.................................... 31,795
Supplier:.......... 23,080.................................... 31,112
Deposit:............. 500........................................ 500
GM Card:........... 375........................................ 375
DP:.................. 1000........................................ 500 (lower due to higher TTL)
Tot. Fin.:......... 21,275.................................... 29,737
Est. Pmt.:...... 350/mo.................................... 500/mo
Est. Ins.:........ 150/mo.................................... 225/mo
Est. Gas:....... 150/mo.................................... 325/mo
Tot./Mo:........... 650......................................... 1050

400 bucks a month is a lot - especially considering my condo (mortgage, HOA, utilities) costs right at 400/month depending on my electricity bill in a given month. And thats before you count in the higher costs for oil changes, brake pads, etc.

Its just a big difference. Right now I'm paying about 490/month total for vehicle expenses, so the V6 would be about 160 more and the V8 would be 560 more.

I dunno. Like I said, I drove the V6 and really enjoyed it. But there's no doubt that the V8 is faster. LMAO. Would I have fun with the V6? Definitely. Would it feel suboptimal compared to the SS? Most definitely. Would I be satisfied with that? I have no earthly idea.

At least you've taken the time to break it all out. That's much wiser than most people. The sticker on mine was $38,350 + 5k mark up. Yes I was one of the people who paid over what I should have but I wanted it and it was worth it to me. I put 10k down and $5,300 went towards taxes, title and registration. My payment is $670 a month and my insurance for the SS and 04 Impala is $150 a month. I wish my house payment was only $400. Mine is $1,550 including HOA fee. You're right though, $400 a month is a big hit. I thought briefly about getting the 1SS just to keep my payments down a little but nixed that quickly. Once I determined I could afford it without it putting me into a bind I went for what I had wanted all along. My fully loaded 2SS/RS with sunroof. Go with your gut bud and you should be good to
go

oh, i wasn't trying to talk you out of the v6. financially, it makes much more sense & i'm also glad that you broke it all down to consider the all-around monetary differences between the two. please don't fall into the current American mentality of 'oh, i gotta get the biggest & bestest all while driving myself to bankruptcy'

i only expressed my view as coming from a "i'm getting this car to go balls to the wall" which is much different than "i'm getting this car to have fun"

you need to do what you can afford & make the most of it. either route will have you grinnin like a school girl
