In all honesty, I didn't read back to see what YOU added to my statements. I never mentioned weight classes, YOU did. I'm not a pro body builder nor have I ever claimed to be. I do have some knowledge in the field, more than many and not nearly as much as others but I do know enough to have gotten some pretty good results in the gym, better than many, again, not as much as others. Do I know the names of the power lifters I've seen ever since I was a kid, absolutely not but I know there are many, so yes, I googled them for you, I don't keep pictures around of other guys lol.

The highlight of the day was the guy in cowboy boots, athletic shorts and a worn out polo shirt that didn't cover his belly. He strutted up to the weights...picked up the 40's and used his entire body motion to do three curls....full out 100db grunting dropped the weights like a stud...and then looked around like he was Mr. Atlas.
I've been training for 15 years. Competing the last 5 in bodybuilding and strong mans. I could tell u so many stories about people dropping dumbells on their faces lol

If they did a Body composition w water displacement they are probably 18-20% fat. Most people are that. You ur self may resemble that percentage if u reflect on it. But you just don't have the muscle compasition to lift 2-4 times ur body weight.

Google Sam Byrd and Chuck Vogepohl. I was at the meet when Sam squatted, I think, 1102 at 198. It was a sight to see. A lot of people thought it was an inch or two high....still amazing.

Granted geared and roided up but to each their own.

You can't compare me with those guys, I'm old. lol I've never had hydrostatic testing but am not sure if I would be that high, there's no way to tell by skin fold measurements because even though those measurements put me at about 14% as I stand today as you get older there is more fat in your body other than surface fat. A skin fold measurement on a 20 yr old that yields 10% would be almost double for a guy my age at the same measurement. I think some of those guys may be higher than 20% but it's hard to tell because they do carry a lot of muscle under it.

I know you didn't. You made a general statement that was not really accurate. Fact is most think "powerlifters" are just big, fat, and strong when in reality most that are on a national level are lean and strong. The excess BF comes into play at the 242, 275, and SHW class.

The majority of them are quite fit, watching the Olympics and other events even an eternity ago when I was younger you see more that are in great shape but there are those like the ones I posted who are just plain huge. Crap, I remember in high school there was a kid who was enormous, fat as hell, everyone used to make fun of him, one day a kid went to far and he grabbed him and picked him and slammed him like he was a rag doll but they are not the norm.

My original statements came about when a comment was made that you can't build substancial muscle without supplementation, I brought up the power lifters and body builders of the early years, back in the 40's and 50's when there were no supplements as we know them today. I also mentioned that there were some "fat Guys" who were exceptionally strong and most lifters back then weren't sculpted by todays standards but there were some who could hold there on today. I remember as a kid watching the Olympics and there where guys with huge legs or massive arms but those more often than not they weren't symmetrical as most of today's pro's. They were developed according to there specialty more than overall development.

That makes absolutely no sense. I'm sorry and not being rash. As you get older you only gain more fat on your body if A) you become more sedentary or B) Just eat like a savage while keeping the same activity level as Basal Metabolic Rate drops with age (In case you don't know what BMR is it's the baseline caloric expenditure for you normal body functions throughout the day.) You are absolutely correct as skin fold measurements are the worst of all and not even remotely close to correct. Those are generally 5-10% off. Water saturation plays a huge part in skin fold tests being incorrect as it actually inflames the epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous layers.

Perhaps my wording is incorrect. Essential body fat for a younger male is considered to be somewhere shy of 5% for a guy my age it is more like 15%
