One area of particularly high interest from the general public that is related to Bioinformatics is Stem Cell research. With stem cell research theoretically we could recreate organs for transplant to human beings. Before this can become a reality, a functioning human organ must be synthesized. In order for that to happen vast amounts of data must be collected and analyzed in order to come up with results. The amounts of data cannot be processed by a human brain therefore a form of artificial intelligence must be used, Computers.

With Bioinformatics, programs can be made to simulate various chemical reactions and biological reactions along with the storage of all the data that is resulted from stem cell research. The things that are possible thanks to computers are too many to mention all in this short essay but many things such as simulations and analysis can and do contribute to stem cell research. Computers can also be used to simulate situations such as when stem cells are introduced to a certain part of a human body what would happen. Then a retest can be done with the same exact ‘human’ in the simulation but with slightly altering the properties of the stem cells. This same experiment could be done in real life but with great error to it since if the same test subject would be used the error would be in altering the test subject before the experiment leading to error. Or if ‘similar’ test subjects were to be used then the error would come from using subjects with different bodies and DNA no matter how similar the imperfection would still be present. With computer simulations the stem cells could be specifically controlled and the subjects could be exact replicas since they are computer simulations.

In order for the simulations to be possible first a deep understanding and analysis of stem cell biology and the biology of the test subject must be made. These can be made and stored on computers using various bioinformatics techniques to get a highly life like simulation on the computer which can then simulate different experiments to the researchers will. Without bioinformatics (the use of computers to study biology) then the understanding of current biological processes would be far behind what they currently are.
Overall it wasn't too bad. I know it looks like I changed a lot but I was being very picky on some of the things. Tell me what you think. Also, unfortunately the final word count was dropped below 350 (down to 297) but I have some ideas for expansion if you'd like to hear them.

reading it now and bring on the ideas! its a maximum of 500 words so the closer the better im guessing

Actually, believe it or not I'm rereading it myself and finding a few mistakes in my version (LMAO). A badly placed comma, an incorrectly capitilized word, etc.

As for expansion ideas, I'll just add them to that document and let you know when its updated.

P.S. - and also, closer to the maximum is not always better. Many times a maximum length will be set in order to test your ability to present an idea succinctly. In such a case, you would want to present the idea in as few words as possible while still conveying your meaning.

Cool Saw clash of the titans last night... it was ok. I went in not expecting much of a plot, so I wasn't too disappointed.

Ouch. I was kinda looking forward to it. How does it compare to the original?

@ Adnan, I updated it to 363 words. Same link as above.

I'm not sure. I saw the original once and that was a looong time ago, so I don't remember it much. It wasn't BAD by any means, and I still liked the movie, but it didn't blow me away

Ah. I guess I'll wait for it to come out in the dollar theatre.

I loved the original. I know by today's standards the special effects are horrible but a good movie nonetheless. I've heard many mixed reviews about the new one. Think I'm gonna wait until the DVD.
