It is my birthday today and I got to drive to work on 2 inches of snow and ice but,...... the best car that GM ever built got me here with no problems. I love my Ruby Jewel!

Snow and ice??? What kind of winter tires do you have??? With my SUV in the shop twice in the past week, I've been debating getting winter rims and tires. Driving Ladybug in 26 degree weather on the P Zeroes has made me a nervous wreck!

When I bought this car I knew it would be a daily driver, so with that in mind I set forth to get a set of winter tires. I knew that after having owned three other camaros in my life that I was in for a battle if I didn't. My dealer recommended Tire Rack. So after 2 sets of rims and advice from the Fbod father himself, I settled on a set of 18" rims with Pirelli Ice and snow tires, I hear that Blizzak are good too. LOVE them, you would not believe the increased handling with the 18s, I almost hate to take them off in the spring. This is my 3rd winter, and I made it home in a storm last year when my hubby didn't in his Chrysler300.
And for all those that say driving in the winter is hard on the car, paint etc., please note first place trophys in the picture below.

I just had to place a last minute cake order for my son's b-day. The friend from back home I was going with kinda stopped making cakes, and his bday is in a week. Anyways, my problem is that the cake is going to be a fondant cake of Lightening McQueen and she is making the cake on Thursday. Well, my son's b-day party isn't until Saturday and she told me to just refrigerate it. Well, my sisters friends got my nephew a fondant cake, from I don't know who, and when we cut into it.....well, it was nasty!! The cake was heavy, I mean HEAVY, and the inside didn't look like it was cooked all the way. My friend had told me that happens when you freeze cakes and it's a big no no. Do any of you know if I'll ruin the cake by refrigerating it for 2 days??

big difference between refrigerating and freezing. It should be fine if it's kept in the fridge, but freezing it will turn it into that nasty lump you want to avoid!

My take on driving in the winter hereabouts is this... I do a lot of state hiway driving, and they sand/salt the hiway. Driving around town on sand and salt is not a big deal, but when you get up to hiway speeds it turns into a sand/salt sandblaster and that IS really hard on the paint. It only took 3 weeks last march to really take a toll on my gills because my commute is 40 miles of hwy driving. This spring the Camaro isn't coming out until the State of Washington sweeps my section of Hwy 2!

rmpackers HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I have every confidence that your Ruby Jewel will carry you safely around Big Red country.
I used to live in Omaha, my brother & his family still live in Papillion. I remember what Nebraska winters were like, and my el Camino always did just fine.

Hi Junkman, so nice of you to drop in! I just got my PC polisher as a birthday gift and will be "tossing that white pad it's junk". I'm ordering the orange/white/grey pads and get to know my polisher on my old pickup with the rest of my meguires products. Then I'll buy the Adams orange/white/grey products and get busy on the Camaro. I've watched your videos, I've got them saved on my laptop to take out to the shop with me when I'm ready to polish.

Thanks ladies for the birthday wishes!
Cake: I would think that cake should be ok in frig for 2 days if covered well. You are right about fondant, it is heavier than hockey pucks.
heRS, that is cool you used to live in Big Red country. It is on "my bucket list" to see Washington/Oregon someday!

Happy birthday girl!!

I'm super glad it's Friday. Though I started feeling crappy last night and feel a major head cold has hit me today. :( Winter has definitely arrived.
