without nitrous, i want to be at 490-500whp, then a progressive shot of 150 shot to get me to 650whp. which i hear is about as much power you want to make, before needing a better fuel pump and forged internals.

i'll be happy with anything in the 600whp range with nitrous. so i may just go with a 100shot.

That will be plenty of power. I want mine to stay a street car too. I'm thinking long tubes, CAI & tune & calling it good for me.

You say that until that added power just isn't enough. Then you will be thinking supercharger

Yeah, install is the main $. I'm real familiar with the old small blocks (LT1 4th gens) built a few engines, but have no desire to dig into the L99.

I'll never have a supercharger unless I win the lotto. If I spent that kind of $ on my engine, my wife would have my nutts in a jar on the kitchen shelf.

i'll be installing everything myself, or helping install (except the cam), so the install price will be minimal for me for everything else..

if you sit down with a performance shop, that's familiar with nitrous, you'll change your tune. that's what happened with me. never thought i'd use nitrous. but now, with all the safety features, it's just as safe as a SC or turbo. the problem comes when you get greedy, and try to push the car harder than you should. just like SC or turbo, you can turn the boost up little by little, and blow your motor. with nitrous, you can add larger jets to increase the nitrous and fuel. but if you set your car to 100shot, and leave it there, you won't run into any problems. i've heard people running 200shot on stock LS3/L99's, so i'm pretty confident i'll be ok at 150. lol

That's cool that will help out. I'll install anything on my car myself, but I told myself when I bought it, that I was not going to dig into the engine at all. Strictly bolt - ons for me.

Yeah, that's true. I just never took the time to educate myself fully on Nos. I've just seen a lot of cars go BOOM at the track & didn't want to take the chance.
