You'll never find a post from me saying the 5.0 doesn't haul ass. You will find numerous posts by several mustang trolls who say the 5.0 will mop the floor with the SS. It's a drivers race stock for stock...anything outside that and it's who has the deepest pockets.
I don't think I have seen anyone say anything like that, maybe one person. I also haven't seen anyone say the l99 is slow. Some of you guys, both sides of this argument, are completely ignoring facts and reality, even what the people you are arguing with are saying. You guys are arguing about nothing.

As I told Twin, no one has to literally say "ZOMG L99 is teh sux0rz" for anyone to realize what most imply; they imply the L99 is some mid 13 second car that stands no chance against a 5.0. It will undoubtedly get beaten in ideal conditions, but I would say the L99 has a better chance than the LS3 given both average drivers against a stock 5.0.

Oh no, a combined general thread would be a lot bigger than this!

No, it's like putting all the Mustang threads in the Other cars section in one massive thread...

Thats true. On the one hand its a camaro site so it doesnt need to be over ran with stang stuff.

On the other hand, its IDIOTIC to confine them all here.

We dont confine all camaro etc threads to single topic threads on allfordmustangs.

This is pretty much the only car forum I go to, but tell me... is there as much Camaro talk on allfordmustangs as there is mustang talk on this camaro forum? I'm wondering which mod squad is more lenient!

Update!
Just got back from the track. With drag radials and 110 octane, we ran a best of 11.72 at 117.21 mph"

I tought that you need a custom tune or special tune in order to take full advantage of a higher octane gas...

JM
if you read further down in the thread he's asked why they ran the 110...he said the 110 was probably a bit much. So it was probably added as a safety measure more than anything. There was no power to be gained with that octane.

That's an anomaly of this forum. I've never seen the volume of Camaro posts on any Mustang forum that rivals the post count on this forum regarding Mustangs. The truth of the matter is the mods on the Mustang forums don't have to do much, because the "problem" doesn't really exist there.

Why, I have no idea.

Well, maybe I do.

It may have something to do with shear volume of active Mustang sites vs. Camaro sites. Especially ones catering to the 5th gen. This site is is by far the largest Camaro forum on the internet catering to the 5th gen. I'm assuming moderncamaro is second, but it has a small fraction of the volume that camaro5 has. So this site is really the focus of the 5th gen, and everyone, friend or foe, gravitates here. The Mustang sites are more diverse, so there isn't a single "target" that everyone aims for.

Thats a terrific point.

On mustang sites the Camaro threads are per topic. IE. This thread is about the camaros drag time, this thread is about a camaro complaint, this thread is about a camaro breakage etc etc.

Frankly, i think that is how it should be here about mustangs rather than forcing them all into one thread (which seems retarded to be honest).

However on a Ford forum, the threads usually have 10 or 15 replies and then they slide on and we move to another topic (is that not how it would go here)? At any given time there may be one or two or even three camaro threads up but its nothing thats an "issue".

I do suspect that for the reasons pointed out above there would be more than 2 or 3 at any given time (possibly 4 to 6) but i think the way it has been handled here shows extreme intolerance and a lack of willingness to discuss the competition. Something we rather enjoy on Mustang boards.

The way its done here..there are so many pages that one can not really discuss mustangs any more. (who wants to read 500 pages of topics NOT related to the particular thought you have that day before posting or discussing?)

Whats effectively happening here is that the threads/topics/posts are essentially being buried and swept away. You have heard of fanbois? I am afraid if this forum doesnt re-think how it handles these they may eventually have a reuptation around the world wide web as a "fanboi-site". Not A REP i would want ot have on my brands board and choice of place to discuss things. I would HOPE that C5 would RATHER be viewed by other car enthusiasts as a legitimate and regular car site??????? Wouldn't they?

Not name calling..just an objective thoguht of how people might see this.

I think you're right.

Plus, the 5th Gen is so new and we all got REALLY excited about it so there was a lot of buzz. And that coupled with the power numbers got the Mustang crowd on the defensive. Many of them just couldn't stand the horsepower difference and they had to 'educate' us on their cars.

This site is EASILY the one they all look to when wanting to defend their cars or come talk rivalry.

Actually, 110 could have even hurt performce if the tune was not set up to take advantage of the higher octane.
