Ruby, how are things? You've been in my thoughts

Becky-- I hear good things about Glucosamine and Chondroitin. I have a friend with a dog who has bad arthritis in her joints and my friend swears by the stuff, after her mom started giving it to the dog because her mom takes it for the same issue!
You have a consult first to determine if you're a good candidate. They have to take measurements of your cornea and do various other tests. That part was free. My vision was so crappy (like -8.00 in each eye) that I was only a candidate for the custom wavefront. With that, the area of correction is mapped in like 13 different places, so when they lay you down for the procedure, the computer can map out the right area to ensure you get the best correction possible. I imagine those with less horrible vision probably have less distortion and may not require the custom. My total was about $3800. While I was still in school it took forever to pay off lol, but totally worth it!

I'm with you who say you couldn't handle contacts. I'd love to not have to deal with glasses. I hate wearing glasses. But my eyes water way too easily. If there is a stiff breeze, it is too cold/hot outside, too much glare, for no apparent reason........I cannot imagine that I could tollerate a contact lense in my eye. Thought about surgery, but now I have bifocals. Just can't win this one. Surgery is scarry too. I might have to look into it though & see what htey could do for me.....and if I could ever afford it. Getting old sucks, but it beats the alternative.

Thanks BowtieBelle. About the same. We all still just don't quite know how to have Christmas without my mother. Last year we were too wrapped up in grief to even think about it. My daughter's cat died so she is even more upset now. I think I have figured out what my son plans..maybe going into one of the military branches. That is scary for a mother especially with him saying he won't tell me where he is, but I think it would help him grow up & catch a clue. My Dad seems to be recooperating as well as could be. He likely won't regain any vision in the eye but maybe he won't have to have it removed. I just want the holidays to be over with. :( Now they are giving us impossible productivity standards at work. Anybody ever read "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day"? Well,............"I think I'll move to Australia!"

Here I found a link for those of you who have not read it:

Don't worry though, I'll be fine. I know there are worse tragedies in the world. Just not having much fun right now. Come on C5fest!

[QUOTE=Ladybugsmom;4120799]Yeah, but I've spent nearly 45 years NOT putting things in my eyes - teaching this old dog that new trick, I think not....

Well,,, my dad who passed away three years ago did not wear contacts til he was about 65 years old. He wore them almost to the day he died at 94 years old.

The first time I saw Ladybugs paint I was in LOVE! I am all about the "unique" factor. We will positively do the blue for sure - just not sure if we will have stripes painted or do the carbon fiber vinyl again - I do really like the texture of them. Here is a quick peek at the flaws... http://photopeach.com/album/wi7m1f we were assured that it would be JUST LIKE paint - but with the option of easily removing it later. Oh well... live and learn.

Did any of you go to CFestII? It was practically in my back yard... I did walk up to Becky and she gave me a hat Maybe your car is in these pics: http://photopeach.com/album/yedgw6?ref=more

Too far for us this year :(

I've only worn contacts for a few years. I was such a chicken and the whole idea of "touching my eye" creeped me out. However, I decided I wanted to give contact lenses a try and I really enjoy them! I'm just not able to wear mine long - 6-8 hours max. They're a soft lens but very thick. (I have a terrible astigmatism.)

EYESIGHT

I have been very blessed with good vision. I never wore glasses and I just turned 29 My mom wears glasses, my brother has been wearing them since about age 12 and my dad has macular degeration. He stopped drivin when I was only 18.:(

Becky good luck. My mom is 65 and she has it in her ankle and her heel. Somedays she is really stiff but she gets around. My left knee is killing me really bad well the last 2 years. I fell on a patch of ice and fell hard on my knee. I had a xray done on my arm which I sprained but never on my knee which I should have.:( I'm the same way it feels great a day after I go exercise

Good morning Ladies - it is FREAKING cold here this morning - currently 30 degrees!!! I live in the desert for a reason - I don't do cold! BRRRRR! My poor kids own nothing heavier than a hoodie.

It could be worse - I could have snow like Becky.

Have a great day everyone!

No snow here, but it's only 23 degrees out. No driving Ladybug today, that's for sure!!
I have the day off today (had to use up some vacation before the end of the year), yet I'm still up before dawn... What's up wit dat??? I have to go pick up hubby's wedding band from the jeweler - not sure how he did it, but he knocked a diamond out of it. Luckily, I'm a good wife and take our rings in for check-ups every 6 months, so it's under warranty and won't cost a thing to fix. Then, finish up Christmans shopping. Then, maybe a nap????
I hope all of you have exciting days planned, too!
