GMC should build kickass trucks and SUV's at a premium. The Granite, while looking better than most urban boxes, is still an urban box. It doesn't deserve showroom space along side Yukons and Sierras.

If GM really sees a need for this type of vehicle would have been Pontiac (albeit with different styling) since it was supposed to be a youth oriented brand and these are supposed to be youth oriented cars. Since that can't happen they should make it a Chevy.
Chevy is saturated. Pontiac is dead...and while an Urban box...it's still a utility-box. That's the way they designed it. Holding GMC to ONLY produce big SUVs and trucks is akin to keeping the Camaro live axle and poor suspension components because muscle cars aren't supposed to be able to handle.

imo, I think it's a good move. And the usually cynical MotorTrend posters seem to feel the same. 60% of over 2000 voters have responded favorably to the idea. Ditto for its reception at the auto show unveiling....or it wouldn't be here.

"Do what the Customer wants"...that's a phrase that used to be lacking at GM.

First impression was WTF while laughing and thoughts of the "urban-industrial design aesthetic" , just need cristo to put a big bolt of yellow fabric dangling from it, while some new wave "urban-industrial design aesthetic" jazz plays in the background. Seriously though , I like the suicide doors.

I'd say its more akin to making the Camaro a FWD 4 banger*. So what about brand identity, it needs to be more efficient to keep going. As long is it looks sorta like how it should, thats all that matters. Forget about actually being capable of doing anything. That is the way forward.

*yes, I know this was an idea on at least 1 occasion

Technically, the 4-banger part is still in the works...

The whole GMC "Professional Grade" thing needs to be rethought. It's not exactly supposed to be for professional contractors or whatever now, more like professionals such as lawyers, doctors, etc. The fact that GMC is in the same showroom as Buick (which is now being marketed heavily towards business-type folks) supports this.

GMC's vehicles will continue to stray away from Chevrolet's in terms of design in the future.

i like it. Just from the looks and size it looks to be positioned to directly compete with cars such as the Ford Flex.

Large family sized cars without having to buy a SUV.

Why is GMC taking inspiration from a Scion?
