Can you order a 'base' GT350 for 49-50K$ or you have to chose between track/tech package??? **EDIT** Got my answer you can order a base one..

This engine is gonna be monster!! Its gonna be freaking fast on the 1/4 mile!! I want one so badly!!

This is one reason bone stock C7's have run 11.3's with killer 60fts. Look at the torque of a LT1. Its right there with a LS7 and a lot higher all the way through vs a Voodoo.

While the initial numbers of the Voodoo look pretty good, it's the area under the curve that tell the whole story and it looks like the LS7 is a much more stout engine with the power. A lot less spiky and more predictable too..

Power in the usable RPM range is actually what matters in racing. If the Voodoo powered car spends 99% of track time above 5,500rpm and the LS7 powered car spends 99% of track time above 4,500rpm, the area under the curve may be in favor of the Voodoo.

I'd imagine the voodoo will have its rpm range from 5,000-5,500 to redline. That's a lot of range for them to use and I would imagine that area would be the best in terms of on track performance.

What tires come on each version of the GT350? I'm thinking that could be a major limiting factor of the GT350.

In my ZL1 I usually stay between 4,000 RPMs and redline for most of the track. The torque curve is similar to the LS7 in terms of how broad it is.

295 front, 305 rear and I believe they are Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

Yeah, the GT350 gets MPSSs and the R gets Cup 2s.

The Z/28 has different gearing because of the different rear end and different transmission ratios to the ZL1. Also tires are in favor of the Z/28. Trofeo R's will have way more grip than the PSS tires have which could mean thee Z/28 will offer better grip under braking and in the corners.

This 11.3 time is really extreme. C7 are more like a 11.6-12.0 car(from the C7 fast list). New Camaro is gonna be slower, of course.

Anyway I think this Mustang is gonna be an easy 11s car, I think its gonna be faster than the C7. The old Boss was very fast with 444hp..90hp more and agressive gearing is gonna hurt a lot of feelings. Its all speculation now but I dont think the LT1 and this new Ford engine is in the same league.

I agree the new SS will be a 12:30-12:60s, sure there may be slightly quicker or slightly slower passes but this is where the car will live on the drag strip similar to the Boss 302 numbers. This GT350 should be an 11:80s - 12:10 car. Handling wise we will have to see as this new GT350 will now have IRS, some serious rubber package of 295/305s and 526 angry hp. Too bad the local dealer is looking for a 20k mark-up on orders.

Two have done it and the car has only been out around 2yrs, 8spds around a year. I'm just showing a representation of what the car/engine is CAPABLE of. Not trying to say its a average thing. When comparing cars I like to compare fastest vs fastest cause it shows what it CAN do in the right conditions with the right driver. New 6th gen SS auto will get into the 11's for hero runs but with the right driver I'm sure the GT350 will still be faster. I don't think it is going to be faster than a C7 at the drag strip. Pending final gearing and weight figures I could be wrong. I don't think the LT1 and Voodoo are in the same league either but they aren't suppose to be.

New Moon doesn't want to hear that the new SS will be a 11 second CAPABLE car because that would mean it would dethrone his beloved Dodge 392 cars, that he is so fond of, for less money. Keep hope alive New Moon.
