Just out of curiosity, what do you guys think the C7 Z06 could run the 'ring in?

What is this "work commute" you speak of? Some are retired, or have second, third, fourth cars to commute in, work from home, live within walking distance from work, etc. Not every performance car is a commuter.

This^ Lap times and other performance measurements are a testament to the engineering and design that compliment the driving experience even during the mundane day-to-day operations. It's why Porsche owners buy Porsche's over and over again that never see the top side of 80mph.

I suspect it's capable of 7 minutes flat based on Jim Mero's VIR time on grand west. Maybe slower on some of the long high speed straits though given the impact of its aero package at high speeds. I suspect it will be quicker through the turns than any car less than $500,000

I'm not going to start a new thread about this latest article since this was after all posted by the TMZ of car media... yeah the same as the ones who claimed the NBR time for the GT350... so whether factual or fallacy here it goes:

"Heat Soak? Horsepower-limiting ECU? Undersized roots blower?

Who’s laughing now?

According to fresh reports, the 2015 Corvette Z06 has run a lap time of 6:59.13 at Nurburgring, and the HD on-board video will be released “soon”.

What do we know about this run? It was done in a production 2015 C7 Z06, and the car was equipped with the Z07 aerodynamics package, along with GM’s new 8L90 eight-speed transmission. That is all the information we have at this point, but we do expect more (official) information to be released in coming weeks.

As you know, the C7 Z06 has been heavily criticized as of late, with rumors circulating that the car suffers from heat stroke, or a poorly programmed factory ECU, etc. There are also numerous videos appearing on the internet of the new Z getting beat by the likes of the SRT Viper – the C7 Z06’s primary competitor.

This recent news, however, will redeem this amazing machine in the eyes of enthusiasts, and will solidify this car as an amazing machine that displays hypercar performance.

This lap time places the new 2015 Corvette Z06 in a new category altogether, and could be compared (statistically) to the Porsche 918, LaFerrari and McLaren P1 – all for a fraction of the price. For reference, the Porsche 918 Spyder has previously recorded a 6:57 lap time, so this new Z06 is certainly in elite and exclusive company."

lol wow, this site is something else. When I saw the GT350R time, I thought it might be true since Ford doesn't release times. BUT this is just a load of crap, GM would be the first to release the times, so I find this highly suspect..

its also 20 seconds faster than the last ZR1 time...

In the thread about the Z06 Lap time, someone posted a link from a GM spokesperson saying that time is false

Yeah and the z06 crashed. That's the whole part of testing, pushing these machines beyond their limits. No pain no gain.

Dodge Viper will give the Z06 a run for it's money.

Ford has something coming and the Viper is pretty monstrous.

That site is doing a great job of getting traffic. Very sneaky.

I should start a site like that. Chevy Sonic SS pulls 8.7 in the 1/4. Gen 6 Z/28 tested at Milan, VIR, and Laguna Seca, all other automakers cease production and switch to manufacturing manure spreaders. Pope declares all sins are forgiven if done in a Corvette.
