I've noticed some tailgaters don't really even want you to go faster, they are just mindless drones that want to follow your taillights around instead of doing their own drive.

If everyone had enough brains to be in the right hand lane unless they are passing someone, these conservations would be rare.

A friend of mine wired up a push button switch on his dash so he could put the brake lights on without actually hitting the brake pedal.

It was always amusing to see some twerp disappear backwards like they'd thrown out an anchor simply at the press of that button

if they are in a hurry I pull over and let them go, if they don't go around I go slow as it takes to make them pass me. if they p*ss me off, that is a different thing, will keep that too myself. go as fast or as slow as I want generally. don't have nothing to prove really!

To be fair, tailgaters do provide a valuable resource. Often they will, if you let them, pass you at a great rate and really exceed the speed limit.

It is at that time your rabbit might find a speed trap. Better him than you.

Whatever you do, better make sure you can defend it in court..... Dashcams have become very popular the last few years

Tailgaters are a non issue, unless you instigate a potential accident by brake-checking, if an accident happens it's their fault for following too close.

The windshield washer trick is hilarious! You get your whole car soaked just to get a few drops on their windshield?

Watched a short bus kid try it on me. I moved over to let him on the interstate and he paces along side me rather than pass or fall back. I hit my signal, he falls back, I move over, he passes and hits the washer showering his pretty car with water spots! I got a light mist from it, just enough to make me chuckle how incredibly ignorant he was.

Defensive driving doesn't mean keep the other driver from scoring, it means treat others like you would like to be treated.

TLDR: Quit driving like an @$$ ..... Don't start nutt'n, won't be nutt'n.

Pfft, my buddy has the best. On his Raptor - an actual train horn you can hear for 6 miles! Let 'em pass then let 'em have it!

It's great childish fun!

Blow that horn and watch them jerk the car and jump through the roof.

A long time ago, someone I worked with wired a second windshield washer pump with the spray coming from the bumper. That way, his car didn't even get wet (well, and if you choose to use another kind of liquid, say some recycled beer, you can)

If I get a tailgater, they are being an ass. I usually drive 5-10 over the posted anyway, and I don't hang out in the passing lane any longer than I have too unless I am REALLY flying by slower traffic.
I just slowly start ticking down on the cruise control until I am about 5 UNDER the posted. If they still want to tailgate, I just kick it off and coast down until the pass, then let them gaze at the wonder of my high beams if its dark enough.
My last car, I bought some cheap LED break lights at a truck stop, they were clear when off, and mounted them inside the rear hatch towards to top of the window. I wired them on a 3 position switch, OFF, ON, ON with BRAKES.
I could "brake check" them without touching the brakes. And if that didn't give them the hint, I'd just leave them on, they were blinding!
