Xmicro, I know exactly where you're coming from, at least I think I do. I get sick of so many people flying off the handle at every little thing. But I've been here for nearly 2 years now, I don't know how long you were watching before you joined. But when each set of spy-shots came out, there was almost always 1 thing that people complained about (amongst a lot of praise). Headlights, awkward proportions, too much body roll at the 'ring, horrible interior, lack luster paint, and many more. Then came the specs last summer, too heavy, not enough power, bad fuel economy, etc. And lately, wheel weights, cracked fascia, waiting for cars they ordered in October, who knows what it will be next week. It gets tiresome, and until lately, the 'problems' were mostly forgotten about a week after they were found and this site returned to a nice happy place. Thats not really the case anymore.
Now, when I joined we had little more than 1000 members. Now we are at 8600 and counting. During the day we have hundreds of members online and many more simply viewing. That increased traffic means more people are going to discuss things. I'm rambling a bit. Sorry. You said you want a Camaro fans only forum. From the sound of things, that would be a place where nothing negative can be said, or either the post gets deleted or the member gets banned. But where would the lines be drawn? Compare the performance of the 370Z to the Camaro: ban SS isn't enough: delete. Plastics too cheap: ban Too heavy: delete Don't want wheel weights: ban. Think the GT500 is better: delete. Don't like the shade of blue that is offered: ban Exhaust isn't loud enough: delete Obviously, thats more extreme than what you would like on your "Camaro fans only" forum, but I think you can understand my point. The number of people who think the Camaro is absolutely perfect is extremely small. The number who think its awesome is high, at least on this forum. Many of those voicing their concerns (Hylton, you come to mind) are huge Camaro fans and want the car (and GM) to be the best. These individuals voice concerns with the hope that things will improve. Nothing wrong with that, and thats why its allowed. Then there are those who talk a lot about other cars such as the Mustang (like Garage Logic). I'm glad to have people who are knowledgable about cars besides the Camaro because it prevents me from becoming blind to the rest of the automotive world. There's a quote that I like to use for this: "Know your enemy and know yourself and you need not fear the result of a thousand battles". If you want, setup your own v-bulletin forum, be the administrator and set your own rules. I'm sure Tran would even be willing to let you know what you need to do. But I know that despite all the problems we have had at this site lately with the short tempers and apperent lack of maturity, I know I won't be going to any other site.

Thank you DG for making that statement because you are exactly correct in why I do what I do. ![]() I will tell you one thing though - turn this place into a sterile ward at the local hospital and watch it become a ghost town.

You are right though, the mods here have our own gripes about the car. Tag hated the gas cap location, RadZ wants a supercharged Z28 while I don't want the Z28 to be a 4000+ lb supercharged monster. Milk hates Synergy Green. I'm sure that every engineer and designer and worker on the line in Oshawa plus everyone else who worked on the Camaro project would like a few things changed on the final design. If not, I would sure like to meet the one man (or woman) who got everything exactly the way they want. One thing though ... I went back and re-read my post ... I didn't say it was the same group of complainers. I'm sick of so many flying off the handle

Though I don't do much complaining there are valid things to debate. I guess I'm more passive and figure I'll get what it is but debate is healthy. They went back and forth on the lowering of the roof and it got very heated but came to a compromise. None of us were a part of those design debates but they came up with a great design all around. It's the anger and threats of "Im gonna cancel my order" that irritated me the most. It's the reason I quit lurking and started posting. I think we all know the ones who create the nonproductive posts and if we just ignore those and let the mods handle business we will be just fine. I plan on sticking around because I like it here and I love this car. I think you'll find it really calm down after most people have their cars for a while. I fully expected it to get busy and crazy here as we approached delivery time and during and right after. And I fully expect it will get quieter and smoother afterward. I hope for smoother.
But I thought this was a different topic. |

What is wrong with my signature??, tons of people have an image and text. On high speed internet it loads in seconds. If you are running a slower speed can't you select not to view peoples sigs?

I laugh sometimes we get "Johnny Big Mouth" on my other car forum, but when you meet at a local meet he is this little quit twirpy guy who sits in the corner. Those are the guys that disappear off the forums and usually just peek in. Getting together in local club activity where people can have a face to face slows a lot of this negativity down also. We just all need our cars first for that. A lot of the frustration will hopefully slow......I AM HOPING!

I was interested in a Camaro, but was tired of waiting so I bought a 370Z instead.
That said I still really like the Camaro and I'm sure I would have been happy with it too. And I enjoy reading about people getting there cars, first drives, problems etc. Sure there are trolls out there, but they are on every message board on teh webz, but it would get very boring talking with only people that have the same opinion as you do wouldn't it? |

If the forum goes too niche, it'd get kind of boring. Others opinions are welcome in my humble opinion. Keeps things interesting and prevents stagnation.

What about people that are fans of more than one car?
I am a fan of Mustangs and Camaros, and admitedly I have defended the Mustang a lot, because after owning a Mustang for nearly 5 years and have done over 100 1/4 mile passes in itI feel like I know a little bit. So I do stand up for the Mustang when I see something I don't think is factually correct. I hope my comments were never judged as negative or coming from a fanboy. I joined this site 2 years ago because I wanted to learn about the Camaro, and because I was interested in buying one. Over two years, I've decided I will probably end up going with a C6 Z06 instead....but I still want to learn about the Camaro and what it is capable of. And for an afterthought, I've even started threads that make zero mention of any car other than the Camaro Last edited by Rock36; 05-12-2009 at 05:20 PM. |

It is good to have different point of views from people. We live in America and there is nothing wrong with having a forum with different points of view. As for the mustang lovers, we own a 2006 Mustang GT with 2400 miles on it. We also own a 2006 Trailblazer SS and a 2005 Trailblazer LT, a 2007 Silverado, a 1996 Chevy Pickup, a 2007 Jeep at our Hawaii house along with a 1995 Jeep Wrangler at our Hawaii house. We are purchasing a 2010 Camaro. Notice they are all american made but different types., We like different types of cars but are supporting the good ole american car companies. If this was just about Camaros as previosly stated it would be boring. I am anxious and excited to get my new Camaro and like to see what everyone has to say. Leave the forum the way it is.
