I know I didn't make a new years resolution but... I actually started my diet about 4 weeks ago and have lost 18 lbs since.
Starting to get harder to stick with it as I've started to crave sweets this week.

Okay I need some help from my nutritionistas. It seems highly likely that I may be gluten intollerant. :( I really hope not because I love my bread, but both of my sisters ahve been diagnosed and one of their daughters. One of my nephews suspects he may be also and review of symptoms reveals a high liklihood my mother was. I have tried going off & back on gluten a couple of times & that also lends some validity to the theory. It could explain a lot of issues I have had over the last several years including anemia, irritable bowel syndrone and problems with my skin just to name a few. I am worried since this is a very difficult diet to manage since gluten in in so much of the food we eat. I have started learning about it from searches on the web, but any wisdom or guidance anyone could offer would be appreciated.

How does everyone stay so motivated, I have the hardest time with motivation and sticking to a workout or even starting up again once i fall off it. When i use to play soccer for my university 4 years ago i was in the best shape of my life and back then i was motivated by getting yelled at and the pressure of not playing. But now that it is all behind me i have such a hard time finding motivation :(

The hardest part is getting there. Find something you LIKE to do, and start there. For me, I train/fight Muay Thai, and have fallen in LOVE with it. Keeps me in great shape, and it's flat out fun.

I agree find something you are passionat about and set a goal. I use to be really into lifting and won medals in martial arts tournaments. After that time period, I just stopped and let myself get to over 300 pounds. 5 months ago I looked at myself in the mirror and was disgusted with what I saw, and I am only 18. so I made a commitment to myself. I wanted to get back in shape and eventually start fighting again. Today, I have lost over 100 pounds and feel better than ever. Just keep it in your mind what you want, and do not stop at anything until you get there. Once you keep it going for a while, it becomes your life style. I never thought I could do it either, I went from eating everything in sight at 3am to where I am now. Only question I ask myself is, why didnt I do this sooner?

I like to have long, extended, sweaty sessions of playing hide the salami.

I posted a reply to your original post back on page 41.

Here is my reply if you didn't see it.

First off. Go to the doctor and find out if you are or not. They can give you lists of things you can and can't eat and give you a better idea of what to incorporate into your diet.

Now based on what I know from my sister, the nutritionist, this may even help your weight loss simply because you'll be cutting out alot of carbs if you are in fact GI. Having GI almost forces you to eat a Paleo type diet. A simple natural diet is your best option with a lot of fruits and veggies since you won't get much fiber from alternative grains. If you have GI you have to be very dilligent, gluten is in alot fo things I'm sure you know. If it says malt it has gluten in it. Most condiments have gluten, and most processed foods. So lots of fruits and veggies. And alternatives if you want pasta or bread but they will be simple carbs normally and low in fiber and not to mention not very tasty. In the weight department having GI can be a sort of blessing but it will indeed make life difficult.

Hope that helps girlfriend!

Due to disc injuries and a torn meniscus in my knee, going apesh!t in the gym is a no-no. Running, treadmills, ellipticals and bicycles are out. I do have an olympic bench and weights in the basement that I throw around.

Ahhh, to be young and injury-free again..
Hahaha. Well thats a plus!

Awe that stinks! Well at least you are moving around to the best of your advantage.

I LOVE FISSSSSSSSSH. I eat lots of tilapia and wild atlantic salmon. Some home caught catfish, not fried or blackened.

Ject, make sure you aren't sticking with an impossible diet, but a healthy diet in a healthy calorie range. Diets are impossible to maintain, hence why so many yo-yo. Instead we should try to eat a healthy level of calories and clean eating. If you want to PM any of us like Bonnie, Hrpii, Speedy or me (the guys might can help you best) we can go over what your eating and make sure its a sustainable diet.

This. Focus on what you want in the long run, instead of what your stomach thinks you want right now.

kjkjr - Like Collin said, find something you like. That is your starting point. Second write a list of all the reasons you want to be healthy, and tape this to your mirror. Its easy to find outside motivation but for it to be a lifestyle change you have to find motivation within yourself. Third, set milestones for yourself. When I lose this much, or when I fit in this size again I'm going to do blank for myself. Be it a massage, shopping, a dinner date, a game, ect. Rewards should never be food though, reward yourself with something that isn't going to set you back but help move you forward.

Thanks, No I did not see your reply. I could not find my original post. It did not even show up when I searched my page for all posts I made. Not sure what is going on with that.
Thanks for the re-reply.
