Have you changed your trans fluid? Seems really odd how you get locked out of third when the trans gets warm/hot.

It's the plastic release bearing these cars come with. The clutch is pushed on the floor and its as if the clutch isn't even pushed in at all. So 3rd grinds really bad and won't go in gear and after about 3-4 pushes it'll go in gear....clutch is on the floor the entire time. I'm just waiting for that bearing to melt to get a monster billet bearing.

Car is on factory tune, factory trans, brake/clutch fluid. 29000miles

Mine was always fine up until a year ago or so. I went to wannagofast in ocala and that's when I noticed my car was locking out 3rd. Only happens when I the trans temp is high. The aux gauge is at 180 when it happens. So much for the ZL1 trans cooler the 1LE comes with.

180 isn't high for trans temp though :/

That's what the aux gauge said. No clue what the actual temp is or the fluid temp. I've read somewhere on here that those gauges arnt 100% accurate, they are based off an algorithm from different readings of things.

Thats really weird how you have issues with the trans temps. What are the oil temps at that time as well? Curious if those temps would have an impact or maybe the coolant. I think the trans cooler goes through the radiator.

I have no clue. I only monitor a few things on my scan gauges (ignition advance, oil pressure, IAT, knock retard) and then the aux gauges only are those 4 things (oil pressure, voltage, oil pressure, trans temp) didn't even think about looking at coolant temp or oil temp. I know my IATs were typically 120 after sitting in the staging lane. After hot lapping the car i saw 152 IATs because i sat in tbe staging lane for 20 min. I've never seen the trans temp and gauge read past 180.

The 3rd gear lock out happened on my final run. Which was my 4th run. The car sat at least 2 hours to cool down. Probably wasn't really cooling down though......
