You can buy a set of dumbells such as the powerblocks. they take up two square feet of space. You will be amazed what you can accomplish with a good program

Dammit, you're going to shame me into picking the weights up again. I'm sitting in my kitchen literally less than 10 feet away from a small universal machine and more loose weights than I'll ever be able to lift . . . and even though I'm mostly retired I haven't touched them in two years.

You lack the maximal strength to move said weight

Mindset plays a role but ultimately when you are talking about moving maximal weights, it's your maximal strength preparedness that determines whether or not you make the lift.

It's just weird how it works. There are times when you don't think you have it in you and it's a piece of cake. The mind/body connection is very important but there are so many factors, not just actual strength. It's like having money in the bank but the bank's not open.

Sure there is. Sleep, food, home life, work life, etc....

But if you have the maximal strength to lift, let's say, 300 and you try 350 you will get crushed and it doesn't matter how great everything else is....

Again, everything in your world can be hunky dory....if you aren't strong enough you aren't strong enough. Example....I'm a stong mofo...really strong...but Dznts squats in the 700's...I squat in the 600's....

I recently retired (ok I work from home but it's a joke and its working for myself), I sleep all I want, I eat good and all the time....it's not going to make me squat what Dznts does....
