Fenwick what is your personal opinion on the CEO selection and Reuss being put as head of global product devlopment? Personally I think it's a great move as Reuss would have made a good CEO but I don't think anyone would have made a better Global Product Development Manager than him and I also think Mary will make a great CEO.

It was the right move. Reuss is a product guy through and through and will be a good fit at product development.

Mary's a car gal but she also has plenty of experience with the corporate aspect of the job in addition to her engineering background. She's a good choice for CEO.

Yeah, I don't think Ruess will mind foregoing the CEO job to run GM's product development. It seems to me like that would be the most desirable of the executive positions anyway. I mean, if you've ever thought about running a car company the only thing you've probably thought about is what cars you'd build. As opposed to, say, listening to a presentation regarding the strategy for continued growth in Latin America over the next 10 years.

Sounds like GM hasn't quite figured that part out yet. Holden manufacturing is shutting down, but the brand may live on as rebadged Chevys. Thats essentially what the lineup is now anyways. On the other hand ... since the brand will be nothing but rebadged Chevy's it would make sense to shut it down & just go with Chevrolet instead.

REUSS does/will continue to do great things in Product. Lost talent, sorely needed, if he twiddled his thumbs with boardroom types and Washington/Wall St. powerpoint pals.

BARRA has a folder full of varied proven talents that are well-placed at ALL levels REGARDLESS of audience...and she KNOWS the product side is well-watched.

As of right now, the official word is Holden will live on solely as a brand, not as a manufacturer. There's a rumor that says it'll be switched to Chevrolet, however that makes little sense since GM is pulling Chevrolet out of the European market because the already well-established brands there (Opel/Vauxhall) are simply better received. It would be the same thing all over again in Australia.
