well ladies, gentlemen and scalleywags alike... I am off to bed... House is tidy, laundry is done, clothes are put away... wife is crashed out on the chair with the dog and my eyes are getting heavy.

Hmm... I've had a credit card since a few weeks after I turned 18 - the summer before my senior year of high school. I've been fairly responsible with it though and thats how I built a good 750ish credit score by the time I was 20 and was able to successfully acquire a mortgage (under my name, no cosigner, 4.25% interest 30 year fixed) before my 21st birthday.

Credit cards can be a good thing. I recommend everybody get one with a low, low credit limit (like 250 dollars) as soon as they turn 18.

I totally agree! It's much easier to get a credit card in highschool/college than it is once you're out. Much easier to build a credit score.

Luckily, I've built my credit score in other ways, and have a very good rating.
