This is pretty much a base car with cloth seats. It's not fair to compare it to a highly optioned GT. Think of it in Camaro land. It woiuld be like comparing it to a 1SS. It's a good deal, but only for people looking for a stripped down performance car. Much like a Z06 except the performance isn't that much higher than the base car.

Man I didn't know you were able to test one.

What was the performance numbers?

I would say they have split the difference between the GT and the GT500 about as down the middle as could be reasonably expected.
Ahh ok.

I'm no GM employee but I can say with 100% certainty that is not going to happen. GM has all but said outright the engine won't be changing until approximately 2015 when the next gen Camaro is out.

It's $11-12k over a Mustang GT. I think a lot of folks will feel that's not worth it.

Either way though, it is another option for Ford fanboys.
It really isn't a car for a lot of folks. All the niceties that were stripped out are stuff that 95% of people are willing to pay more for, that are tangible to them so they have value to them. BUT in reality its way cheaper for Ford to put in a Leather interior or navigation system than a Torsen diff, adjustable shocks, and Recaro seats. And the engineering behind getting it all to work right and be reliable on and off the track. Thats why it costs much more than a regular GT, and its not made for a lot of folks, its made for a few which is all they expect to sell to up the standard Mustang's profile. Its unfortunate GM doesn't have the money to throw behind such ventures.

There have been no tests of it yet, but with 28 more horses on tap, very aggressive engine programming (thanks to the Key there was so much debate about), reduced weight and better everything underneath, I am sure it would hand a regular GT its ass as well as the 1SS. Yes maybe it will 1/4 mile nearly the same, but in the grand scheme of things that absolutely NOT what this car is for.

The Boss 302 was the car that magazine writers ran into at Mazda Leguna seca back when the 5.0 was in development. This is the car that was wearing the the P-zero Corsa tires and was being directly compared to the M3. the car achieved lap times that were 3-5 seconds faster than that of the M3 as reported by the magazines.... so the performance is there.

however people need to keep in mind a lot of dealers are letting their limited allotment of cars go to the highest bidder. soooooo....... good luck getting one at that price...

I am waiting to see the car get on the dyno. I seriously doubt they only gained 28 hp.

That's a great deal in my book. Too bad they don't offer a certified roll bar or cage on the LS package because it will need it once you put on a set of DR's and pice of mind when on the road course. Car's now day's are so fast you need to spend a big chunk of $$$ if you want to go racing and pass tech. I cant wait to get smoked by one.

I hope to God no one will buy his car to primarily Drag race it. The way its setup that would just be absolutely tossing out the window everything it was designed for.

I kind of agree. Ideally, I'd prefer GM not produce special versions of the Camaro but rather have a ton of options on GMPP where we could customize our cars with performance stuff. These special versions end up being subject to mark-ups.

Either way, GM isn't there yet.

This is definitely a niche car, and won't appeal to a large portion of the general public, but for those who want a car like this (me, but I'm not in a financial position to buy it), it's about perfect. A lightly optioned car, with all the go-fast goodies.

I think it's priced right where it needs to be. Hopefully ADM's don't get out of hand.

Easy mustang boy scouts. If you really think the performance difference between the base GT and Boss is the same as a base vatte and a Z06 then you spent too much time standing on your head. The Boss and GT have the same engine, the Z06 has a bigger engine than the base vette. The only observation I'm making is that originally the Z06 was a race version of the cheapest model vette. It was a base coupe without many options, much like the Boss.

I think its a great price for what you get.
who really expected 35k for the kind of goodies your getting in the boss.
this this has, 302R fully forge engine, 3.73 gears LSD and carbon fiber clutch plates, adjustable suspension, quad exhaust and other options.
you could make something similar, but the tuning and refinement ford work on, wont be there.
