It's either an arbitrary cap, or we've found the limitations of the forum software. This place is the first vB site i've been to with a 100k thread.

I don't know if its a hard limitation because the mods can still post and threads can still be merged into it. Meaning threads can, from a database standpoint, contain more than 100000 posts. We'll have to wait and see.

That's why I don't think it's a cap set by the mods or the software. If it was, it would be closed and there wouldn't be any questions amongst the mods as to what happened. According to some of their posts, the thread appears open to them, but closed to us.

Yep - thats the hardest thing to figure out. It seems like in most cases the thread would appear closed to them as well, but they'd still be able to post in it. It seems odd that its listed as open on their screens but closed on ours.
