I guess those that have no brand loyalty would jump to a mustang from a Camaro when they put out one of their endless "specialty" models...they all look about the same to me. I respect the GT 500 and the new one styling wise appeals to me, but honestly I saw an 06 on the freeway and it looked virtually indistinguishable from my view to a 6 banger' with special stripes and whatnot. I know it's not, but like I said you see so many....

The Camaro was never meant to be or shouldn't be "exclusive" that means it bombed. Like others have stated, it will be a long while before the Camaro will be like the over saturated, every other time you glance around you see another, cute little 6 banger' pony mustang next to you. No disrespect intended to the Ford faithful, I just am a passionate GM/Chevy guy is all.

All in all it's great competition and a great era and probably last era of pony/muscle wars we will ever see....I'll just sit back and enjoy while proudly riding in my SS.

Rock on Ford!!! Let's burn some fuel, melt some tires, and stimulate the economy. I'm all for the big three succeeding. This will have the tree huggers in an uproar! BTW, that 500 looks great.

To each his own. It's not about brand loyalty when GM has nothing to offer me for what I'm looking for except a Vette. Had one loved it but love my family more!

I'm shocked you were able to get close enough to even distinguish the vehicle in a Camaro. It's a shame you couldn't get closer to see the letters - SHELBY pasted on it. I'm sorry. I'm just kidding. I couldn't help it.

I think this is what ford needed to do years ago.. put some power into the mustang.. its always been that u had to mod a mustang to beat people..

I was being sarcastic but I can keep answering this post over and over I guess. And I anticipate more than 100 lbs gain for the Camaro Z28 over SS. But it doesn't matter the exact number on ficticious car at this point.

But here's a fact the 2011 GT500 will weigh 3801-3821 lbs depending on a glass roof or not. That's less than a SS (3860 lbs)...

Maybe so. But in the 80's a 5.0 GT Mustang with only a air intake and exhaust upgrade would make it faster than the Vette at the time, believe it or not?

My Dad had a Vette and his business partner had a GT at the time and they told me these crazy things!

You could've left it at "sarcastic...I can respect that....

No, it will gain more than 100 lbs if they do what we think they'll do to it, that's for sure...but we're talking OVER THE NOSE, right? There's weight put into the car elsewhere...and the Engine, after all...is mounted behind the axle in the Camaro...so not all 100% of that weight will be directly over the front axle....which is why I mentioned the neutral balance...

...good for it. Now add an IRS, heavy wheels for style, a full suite of airbags, maybe some stiffness for good measure, and all that other good stuff and it won't be so "light".
