just pass on the price to the consumer...the trans am will be 5 dollars more than the camaro equivalent ....big deal

I still have a feeling that even though they say "No firebird" now, if the Camaro sells like I think it will, we'll see one again. Good lord, they co-existed all these years before, why couldn't they again? Put some excitement back into Pontiac.

because GM has stated that there will be no more "sister" cars that share 90% of the vehicle with another car. individual and unique cars. even tho damn near every pontiac you see looks the same...lol

Ah yes, the new Pontiac 'blob with a beak' era. I think its better than the plastic cladding era though.

And its good that GM is moving away from 'twinning', I think that the Lamda's were a bit much -too many compete in the same price range. For the Camaro, if GM offered say a Grand Sport (or Grand National) based off the Camaro's platform, that would be alright since it would be for a compltely different market. But to resurrect the Firebird, particularly when there is the G8 and the Camaro makes little sense.

I would say get rid of the G8 or phase it out and bring back the Firebird.. It would sell a whole lot more cars for GM and in two years or less (since the platform is already there and they only need to change bumpers, and lights..) would bring a fresh design and look and propel GM to even higher sales...

A firebird would sell, but most of those sales would come straight from the Camaro. I'm making these numbers up as I go . . . figure they might get 40k sales for Firebirds. But 25k of those would be from people who would also buy a Camaro. That 15k difference isn't enough to justify the cost of the changes that need to be made, even over a 10 year cycle.

On the other hand, the G8 is a large, low buck sport sedan. My cousin is considering buying one to replace their Bonneville. There are no other cars that GM sells here that are similar to the G8. The closest is the Impala SS, and there is no comparison between the two. And the G8 has minimal competetion from other automakers.

Why compete with yourself... Its hard enough right not to sell a single product line why reduce your profit margin even more?
