your right its not elementary school in any work place their are policy and procedures and employee discipline is given out based on harm done to the company or potential harm. So it does matter. If there was harm done to GM then he should be fired if there was no harm or minor harm it should be handle in manner consistent with the level of harm or lack of harm.
Why won't anyone say what the harm, was? Is that cause there was no harm? |

I hate myself. ...but I'll never give myself up. Edit: Whoops; I meant to add: I'm sorry Karl, too... I wish you the best of luck finding something else, soon. I know it's rough out there right now.

But when you think about it, most rules and laws are like this. Consider the following. Someone runs a stop sign in on some country road at 2:00 am when there are clearly no cars coming for a couple of miles. A cop parked at the side of the road near the intersection sees the person do this so he pulls him over. Can the guy argue that he didn't break the law because no harm was done? No because the law states that you stop at stop signs.

You know what's the saddest part in this whole thing to me? Walk up to the everyday Joe Schmoe on the street and ask him what he thought about the confidential Camaro information being leaked on the Camaro5 Forum yesterday and he'd look at you like you're an idiot because he has no idea what you're talking about and really doesn't care. Why? Because other than the die-hards on this and a few other Camaro sites, the general public really doesn't give a flip about the details of the car and probably doesn't know it exists. I know there were rules that were broken, but man, it just seems like the punishment far outweighs the crime. It's not like he slipped some super-secret info to Ford or something.
By the way, if you're reading this post and you're the one that contacted GM and that in turn prompted GM to contact the dealership and fire good old Karl....wow, you should be very proud.

x2... I believe in following the rules, but I hope GM found this info on their own... rather than believe that someone on this site would be capable of policing information we already knew and pursue it to the extent of costing someone their job for something they were truly sorry they'd done.

Using your example if your drunk and run a stop sign you lose your license punishment is given out in line with the offense, but you don't lose it for running the stop sign. |

The only person Karl has to blame for what happened to him is himself. He is lucky they didn't make him sign an NDA else he could be in jail to boot. How much harm was done isn't relevant. He proved himself to be untrustworthy and got what he deserved. If his job was so crucial to him he should have thought about that before he posted a company's confidential information to the whole world (including Ford).

Dealerships are under contract with GM. GM has rules dealerships must follow. Not following these rules is BAD. If something says dealership guide, not for public distribution, you shouldn't give it to the public. It's their company, so it's their reason. This was to give dealers a HEADS UP for questions, because the CONSUMER version will be out (so I'm told) Friday. What ends up in the CONSUMER edition, they like to be as factual as possible. GM has their reasons. And yes, the magic poster later in the day with 1 post count posted he got his emailed from a dealer in Florida. So, when you run a dealership selling GM products, you should really follow GM's advice on how they want things done. This isn't new for any dealership, but with salesmen turning over like weeds, it's up to dealership management to make these employee's aware of DO's and DON'TS. The guide in July was also given out by a BILL HEARD employee and scanned - then posted on this forum (so the original poster stated). There was a similar situation, not to this scale, but that to me was a warning. Maybe some weren't here WAY BACK THEN in July. What if the Colonel Sander's shared his recipe with employees years ago? They wouldn't be here. Orders start on the 13th. Lets focus on the car |
