I consider less than 10% difference not too far off. The Z06 definitely has the advantage but the Z/28 seems to surprise a lot of people. I'm not saying the Z/28 will beat or match the Z06 but I don't think it will be as far behind as most people would expect.
Again, 300 lbs is huge!...no matter what you think.

As someone else commented, the Z06 is supposed to be faster around the Nurburgring than the ZR1 that did it in 7:19.xx. I guess the 2014 Z06 at probably 7:12 - 7:15. Remember, the C6 Z06 did it in 7:20 with the same engine as the Z28 and lesser tires. The Z28 did it in 7:37.40...yeah, I know there was a wet track issue in some areas of the track and they estimated it had another 3 seconds in it on a dry track. Ten seconds on the Nurburgring is huge.

The C6 ZR1 did it in 7:19.XX and the C6 Z06 did it in 7:22.XX. Amazing considering the massive torque and power differential between the two, but that's what a well balanced car will do and why I think calling this car Z06 was a massive mistake on GM's part.

300 lbs is a lot but way closer than I would expect between GM's wonder car built with aluminum and carbon fiber vs the Camaro built off a steel sedan frame.

I believe GM claimed another 10-11 seconds off the 7.37 time but the Ring is also a massive track with plenty of places for cars with higher horsepower but less grip to gain ground.

I totally agree bro. Very nice. Beastly car.
I priced one out last night the way I want it and it was OVER 96k. LOL
You have to buy the lower skirt package when you buy the Z07 package, that's what brings the price up. As well as other "little" options. That was a 1ZL package too.
We'll see how it goes.

Where did you go to build one? Chevrolet.com still doesn't allow you to get pricing with options.

Yeah, if the Z28 had posted 10-11 seconds better than the 7:37 time, I would have kept my nose out of this thread...lol. I have great respect for GM's massive effort to make not just a good track car of the Z28, but a great one...I'm proud of them.

I bet the Z/28 will get another run on the Ring when the Z06 does. It should be interesting to see how fast it can go in optimal conditions.

Agreed...I think it should beat the Nissan GTR and the Porsche GT3, both of which are just above the Z on the list. The Z28 has beaten both of these in other comparisons. It's straightaway speed kills the overall average since some cars do 175 and above. I had an 02 Vette Z51 with bolt ons and it hit 165 in half the longest straightaway on the Nurburgring and blistered the butt of a 911S.

My bad, it wasn't 10 seconds off the time. It was at least six seconds which would put it 10-11 ahead of the ZL1.

There's a pdf on one of the Corvette forums with options and pricing.
If there's any interest, I'll try to post here.

Show me where the GT3 was beaten by the Z/28. Please do. I don't think so...

There's the AutoWeek test, HERE

Not an outright "win", on the track, but a very favorable comparison...

Ok. So that's not it. Great showing for half the price.
