Looks great, for a little more $$$ check out G2 caliper paint, especially if you want color other than red…its a brush on, so you don't have to remove calipers did mine, on a V6, paint dries nice and glossy, I added camaro stickers as well and everything looks great too :-)

I wonder what will give you a better looking finish, brushing it on with the g2, or spray paint with clear? Also I wonder if you can put clear over the g2 so you can protect the decal, would really like to hear from members that have done or seen them both ways. It's a long winter in Wisconsin and want to paint mine this winter!

After checking out Thkfast post on painting calipers it got me motivated to finally do mine, the only difference is I painted mine yellow instead of red. I did mine exactly as he did the only difference is I hung mine with some cheap speaker wire that I had from my rafters to paint them. Here are a few pics of the end result.

Thank you SO much for posting this DIY project. I just completed my drivers side calipers tonight with the help of my father-in-law (he owns a 71 Z28) and my 11 year old son. I couldn't be happier with how they turned out!!! Thank you again for the inspiration to do this myself instead of spending hundreds of dollars buying them pre-painted.

I also used tips from the OP to do mine. I removed the calipers and installed new cross tubes from Racing Brakes after the paint was completed. I don't like the look of painted-over fittings. Removed cross tubes, bleeders and pads.
I made my own decals on my plotter at home, just Brembo and no "Chevrolet" for mine. If it wasn't expensive to be a site sponsor I'd consider custom making caliper decals...
Anyway, the trick is multiple clear coats. Let it dry completely and then load up another coat. On mine it took probably 7 or 8 to make the edge of the decals disappear. The fronts were rebuilt SS and rears were brand new CTS-V units which were cheaper new than rebuilding the ones from an SS.
Do NOT skip the primer and think it will work well. Great post, OP!

PS- Bleed them carefully... these paints are eaten easily by brake fluid.

I did mine with a 2 part epoxy paint w/ small brush..only removed the wheel . no primer needed...100 times thicker than any spray on..
Has a ceramic finish.. just wipes off cleaning is a breeze.$35. Enough to do 8 or more calipers 3 coats eh.

I ended up getting the paint from Autozone, it was a little cheaper than on Amazon, and got the decals and car cover on Ebay.

Okay so I'm just finishing mine up tonight, just got done spraying the clearcoat. I looked on the instructions for the clearcoat and it talks about curing it with heat minimum of 200° for at least an hour. My question is, I'm doing an upgrade from the v6 brakes so I won't be installing these probably for a month or so think they'll be okay until then?

I heated mine up a bit with a heat gun to start the curing process. If you have a heat gun handy, it's not a bad idea. Should be fine either way I would guess.

Im going to be painting my calipers next weekend using this write-up. Im a little nervous. I do not have a heat gun nor do I have time to let them cure for over a week. I will have a day of curing at best.

Is that enough?
