GM is coming out with a Chevy SS Performance 4 door car to compete with the charger and Chrysler 300. It'll come with 3.6L or optional 6.2L 413HP if Im not mistaken. Smaller than the 2014 Impala! Here's the link:

The Impala is meant to be a family car not a muscle car. I think the redesign looks fine. Not a fan of the downward body line on the rear door but otherwise it is what it is.

I can't understand why Chevy designers dropped the ball on this with when there are clearly better cues to pull from within their current lineup. If they really wanted to, the could have learned from Dodge's rebirth of the Charger or Ford's resurrection of the Taurus. Dodge went with appealing retro cues while Ford went modern using cues from other current models.
The only saving grace for that car is it's interior. Other than fleet car sales for rentals and maybe municipalities, I predict this car fails miserably.
You're the Stevie Wonder of Camaro5 if you think that the Impala is uglier than an Aztek. You've proven that some people only have taste in their mouths.

Looks worlds better than the past couple of Impala designs. It's a good update to stay with the times, plus it is much more appealing to a family than the old boring design. I'm thinking the people that don't like this are probably mid 40's + and are used to the "old American design." The fact of the matter is, GM needs to stay up-to-date if they start to lag behind (again) I have a bad feeling what would happen to GM.

The website says it's not going to be out until Spring of 2013.

Reminds me of the elantra with those body lines...

Also, easily the worst steering wheel I've ever seen.

Rest of it seems nice though.

Doesn't look "horrible" as people say, I like it but not something I would buy. Issue I have is this looks like GM is conforming to the style everyone and their mom is using these days.

Anyway the 3.6 would be nice for a DD if they offer a handling package.

The Impala DOES NOT nor will it EVER have a V8.

The 6.2 will not fit into any front wheel drive architecture.

That engine will be used in the upcoming rear wheel drive Chevy SS.

GM has no "medium sized" V8s in production now. They only have one mainstream V6 now too, the 3.6 LLT. There is no need for a "medium sized" V8 when the 3.6 LLT is as powerful if not moreso than other small V8s. A 3.6 equipped car would leave even the Northstar equipped Cadillacs in the dust off the line and in top speed.

In the past, Impalas were available with a v8. In fact, the 2014 marks the beginning of the 10th generation of Impala. In these previous 9 generations, only gen 8 was not available with a v8 at some point during production.

The looks of this car are not bad. I think this car must weigh quite a bit though. With over 300 hp, the car can only muster a 6.8 s 0-60 time.
