Well, I think you'll enjoy whichever you pick. There seems to be more than enough out there already (and the car isn't out yet!) to boost the V6 to the stock V8 performance levels, at significantly less cost.

I have no plans on taking it to the track and I invision it as a daily driver. I have a Chevy Avalanche now and I don't feel the need to have two gas guzzlers. The Avalanche probably averaging around 15-16mpg @87 octane makes the V6 w/86 octane look a lot more attractive than the V8 running super.

Another deciding factor will be if I keep the Avalanche as a 3rd vehicle or if I replace it with the Camaro. If I'm replacing I might lean towards the V8.

So we'll see...
run premium.

Garagelogic, I agree with you completely. While I understand why someone would want a V6 version and be excited about it if that's what they wanted, I myself could never get excited about a V6 version of a sports car when a more powerful V8 version is available. Call me a horsepower junkie.

Athough 300hp from a V6 is good, 300hp in the world of sports cars in general (not considering engine size, ect) is not impressive, especially in new cars that are gaining weight because of crash standards. 400+hp is commonplace now, and the big-dog cars have 600+. Now that's something to get excited about.

i meant for his avalanche.

a friend of mine ran 87 89 91 and 93 octane in his truck for a month ~500miles for each rating and measured his mileage for each. 91 netted him the best mileage. (93 was just barely lower) but his truck is designed to run on 87.
but its like putting crappy oil filter on the car with top of the line oil. not doing anything for you.

just because it CAN run on the cheap stuff, doesnt mean that it is the best for the car.

i would imagine that Chevy wouldn't make an "every-man's sportscar" that had to use the most expensive gas in every model

I was debating between the V8 and the V6...until I came to my senses.

I'm an 18-year-old college freshman who is on a budget, and should be happy enough to be able to afford ANY Camaro. I'm not even the type of person to race cars...so why would I waste money on the higher model, gas, insurance, etc.?

The V6 that the 2010 Camaro provides, is more than enough for me to get to school, work and wherever else I need to go. And at the same time, I get to drive a beautiful car that will turn heads whether it's an LS or a 2SS.

I'm getting a 2LT. It's more than enough for my needs and pleasures.

That's some good thinking Ant. I wish every young person (and I'm in that category at 21) thought things through like that. Sadly there will be just as many 16 year olds whose mommy and daddy buy them an SS for their birthday who will then go a crash spectacularly due to lack of experience/lack of judgment.
