Well at least Ford was promoting racing the car and then Voiding your warranty I guess. For a while Subaru was giving you a free membership to the SCCA if you bought a WRX and then they were voiding warranties for competing in SCCA races.

I ended up having to install a McLeod clutch and flywheel because the OEM unit was on constant back order after waiting for months. I ended up with $1800 dollars in expenses taking away the down payment money for a 2011 Fiesta I planned to buy as a daily driver.

I went all the way to the top of the chain. I ended up dealing with Ken Czubay's team only to get a "free" extended warranty if I bought the Fiesta. I had my final conversation with one of his team members and a plant engineer today. They said because I had posted on the forms I had taken my car down the drag strip for fun at a track rental that I overheated it that day. Even though it was fine and didn't fail until and couple of months and thousands of miles later.

The bottom line is this. If you have any kind of fun in these cars Ford will look for anything to get out of assisting you. What’s the purpose of buying a Mustang for if you can only drive it like a Fusion? I went out of my way to buy this car earlier then I really could afford last year to help them out for not taking bailout money. This was supposed to be a dream experience for me and instead has been a nightmare. It's going to be hard for a loyal Ford guy leave but I'm so disgusted about this. Ford rather jump over a dollar to save a dime.

To all you Mustang posters on here be careful what you say online. Ford is watching....

Chevy talked about keeping an eye on your oil in your Z06 if you tracked the car as oil consumption was considered normal. however they would void your warranty if they knew you tracked your car.

what it comes down to is money. most of your car manufacturers would like for you to take your performance car to the track and do well for their image. however they do not want to fork out money to fix your car if driving it hard in that way does damage.

I mean that with the least offense possible, but come on man. If I took my sti to the shop with a bunch of power mods on it and a roasted clutch they'd laugh their asses off at me.
It's not that simple. They really didn't investigate the issue properly. Does anyone not read the part about my McLeod that was used as the OEM replacement. It was installed with a dent disc. Left the same hot spots at a much earlier state. It was only diagnosed by physical inspection of the unit. McLeod almost sent it back to me but at the least minute did an additional test on their machine that showed it being damaged. Had SVT actually requested the OEM clutch like they do for others and looked over it good I'd be more inclined to accept their diagnossis. Pictures and a forum post about me taking some passes on an open track day is BS. You tell me this car can't handle a few? It wasn't like I dragged the car from the track right into the dealer.

I wasn't asking them to foot the whole bill. I would have been happy to go half or something. It was just no real effort was made to help a long term customer on top of that I had bunch of other issues with the car. I shouldn't have just focused on the clutch. It was just the straw that broke the camels back for me. It's just been the overall experience of trying to get anything fixed and it being a hassle.

Bottom line is I'm not a drag racer by any means. Only been once with the car and that was for fun and not for competition. If I was beating the crap out of my car I wouldn't even be posting this.
I'd say just let this one go .... I don't see any fault with what FORD has done. It could be driving habbits, it could be the clutch was defective .. the problem is you modded and drove a bit spirited .. in times like this you have to expect that companys will look at everything you do and take any chance they can to save some $$ (not just FORD). Do I think it is a bit odd your clutch went? Probably .. my 04 cobra had the stock clutch and I had 509rwhp 520rwtq and drove spirited .. it held up fine ....

You have to know that with the clutch it is something that may give you issues as you mod the car and add more hp/tq .... Since you got it fixed with an aftermarket clutch, you should be good to go now ..

Word.

He should be fine now.

I was perfectly fine with my 07 GT500 once the clutch was replaced. The cause of trading that in was a tough interior to live with daily. It had nothing to do with the powertrain.

Wow did this thread get a little crazy!!! I do believe that as what was stated by some one else, it really does not matter what make your car is, if you "race" it and the dealer has seen on here or any place else that you post it, they can be "dicks" about any work that is need that should have been covered. This is why I went with the automatic, I have had sticks and they always say that if you mod the car enough you will soon find the weak link and most of the time it will be the clutch the heads south first!!!

I'm having some noise issues with the McLeod as well. I'm not good to go. McLeod support has been great but they and the dealer can't pin it down.

1500-1700 in 4th I hear a very loud metal and metal sound coming out of the bell housing. It can be heard outside of the car at a good distance as well as over everything else in the car (radio, exhaust, etc.) It's pretty embarrassing and while I can drive around it that's not an acceptable long term fix. The OEM unit was very quite. It also had springs on it to absorb some vibration. I realize there might be a little noise with the McLeod that has no springs but even they said it shouldn't be this loud. McLeod worked with the dealer during the second install. The tech who did the install at the dealer has over 30 years in the business and races cars on the side with his son.

I just feel the need to jump in and join the "not Fords fault" group here.

Clutch is a wear item, its just more expensive and harder to change than brake pads. Now just because there was a TSB on the clutch doesn't mean every clutch was bad. There were plenty of TSBs for early build Camaros such as the output shaft of the transmission that didn't end up applying to every car. Mines an early build and Ive launched it a bunch of times with no problems, others snapped it in one shot.

So you go back after 10k miles (which I hope you can agree someone who doesn't know how to drive stick very well can EASILY cook a clutch in less than 10k miles) with a car thats modified and expect them to replace it based on a TSB that theres no way to prove would definitely apply to your particular car. Thats like showing up with bald tires and saying they are defective, or burnt brake pads. They don't know how you drive and where you drive it.

Your problem is then compounded by forum posting which I agree sucks but its there. You may very well have damaged it that day (probably not) and while it worked it took some time to finally fail. Just showing their POV which may well be true, they weren't watching you drive it correctly or wrong so they err on the side of whats fair for all customers (otherwise everyone would be fighting about whether or not they know how to drive stick right) and what saves the company money. Sorry man, I feel bad but Ford is in the right here. If you mod any car you need to expect and accept this.
