Let me dumb it down for you further. He who wins the race wins the race. I don` care if you run 11.0@150 to my 10.8@127. I won. Period. Tell the guys at the race track next time you lose that you were faster because of your mph and watch them laugh you off the track. You sound like a Toyota Supra driver.

If that still doesn`t enlighten you here it is in plain English:

MPH does not win races, ET wins races.
I was saying mph difference can be noticeable even during street driving and especially when you stomp on the gas on the freeway. If you compare 2 cars that are roughly 10mph apart, the slower one well definately leave you feeling underwhelmed.

If you're talking about drag racing times, it's definitely not needed, and in fact the extra weight would probably make it a tiny bit slower.

Definitely not needed for the average driver. If you want to race on a road course semi regularly I'd get it. If you're just going to hit a road course once or twice to goof around, I still probably wouldn't get it.

There is NO proof of this pass other than CLAIMS. Where as yesterdays events for ford are well documented and im sure will be published with PROOF!
a member here posted a well documented 12.02 run with a bone stock zl1 on his second pass ever with the car and provided video and timeslips. but you are right, 11's bone stock on a zl1 is highly unlikely.

No, of course I'm not a professional driver. But I will be taking it to the track a few times a year. My goal is to have fun. I'm not going to be setting any world records. But I'm going to choose what I feel is the best all around car for a road track.
Well until the gt500 posts numbers, it is just sqwuaking on both sides. Plus, times at the 'ring are going to swing massively based on driver and climate. Head to head is the only real answer, and even then if it's close enough it is a toss up. Faster laps don't always mean faster cars. The thing that really gets me though is how many have become experts on road racing all of a sudden after watching some videos, but get all caught up on stock tires and tunes. Really? If you really push either of these cars, you'll be on a new set of rubber by next week at the latest. This is not an observation of you btw, just something i have noticed on both sides of the coin. Just remember straights are for fast cars, turns are for fast drivers.

Car looks great man, love the color... Congrats on being one of the first!..

What are your initial driving impressions? Any likes or dislikes about the car so far?

Wrong. Not on the 2013 GT500's does it change gearing or tires. The earlier models it did.
wait wait wait

Performance pack adds adjustable shocks, the torsein limited slip differential, and different wheels.

Track pack is simply 3 coolers

I don't get it....not knocking it...just don't get it.
Marketing hype that usually ruins a cars drive ability for the street although thanks to the Magno-neato suspension I think this is where the ZL1 will beat the Shelby, as a comfortable daily driver.

Gotcha...

And yes, I should be out driving, but it's already 10:40, wife isn't feeling well, baby has baby needs, and I work early.

I've still only got around 120 miles.

Also, some of you guys might enjoy this, but I am a worse driver than I thought. Missed the first hard 1-2 shift I tried.

But, as a disclaimer, I also missed my first 1-2 shift with an MGW in a buddies GT lol

Video would be nice. Remember when the Boss was released Ford said they expected to see it on YouTube doing something illegal? GM performs simulations.

Skip shift? Does the Shelby have it?

That may be some evidence of ultra torque management as GMRULZ said. I.e., tune it and it runs what it should be running from the factory? Plus, that 60 ft needs to go down and the MPH definitely seems right.

I think I heard people mentioning it, but I've not experienced anything like it. (don't know what exactly it's like as my '99 obviously doesn't have it)
