Question. Why don't the V6 guys who aren't worried about emissions testing/inspections just replace the PCV valve with a breather? Is there something about the V6 that prevents this?

Or am I just crazy?

well, part of the system is the valve itself. a breather alone doesnt draw fumes from the bottom end up to the heads where it can be sent to the intake to be burned off. the valve and tubing allow a negative pressure to be created which draws the fumes out. they could put a breather on there and not worry about the carbon build up.... (which the complaints about that in itself makes me )

but, they could run a small breather filter off the pcv tubing and make it work.

I was just saying that it might improve power if you just let that blowby vent out into the atmosphere instead of feeding it into the intake?

I was under the impression that the PCV system was mostly there to prevent the crankcase from becoming pressurized. Stick a mister gasket breather on there and it will still normalize to atmospheric.

well, its two-fold. part is to relieve pressure, and the other part is to remove blow-by gases that seep into the crankcase
