Well the normal beauty of working in the oil field is the time off... We only work 1/2 the year in days, We miss a lot but are home more than others in most cases...

40 hrs/wk x 50 = 2000 hrs/yr (2 weeks vacation)
100 hrs/wk x 26 = 2600 hrs/yr 6 / 28 day hitches / per year...
5 days/wk x 50 = 250 days/yr
28 days X 6 hitches /yr = 168 days /yr or with travel add 18 days to that...

I am very happily married and most of the time my wife is really cool with this, as she is being right now... I'll get to see her less than three days in over two months...I'm the one being the biatch about this... I am already retired from one job, and enjoy my time off, with... my wife, my dog, my camaro, my harley, and my friends...All of them but my wife are negotible in order... My two boys are 24 and 22, playing professional baseball and a Sr in College respectively... They are doing their own thing most of the time, but we make time for each other...

We do not get vacations... if your on hitch, you better be on the rig or in the hospital for something other than elective surgery... what goes around comes around...

I work 28/28 (international) and that really figures to 31/25 due to travel... We are only paid for the hours on the rig, unless you have one of the Salary Positions... which I used to have... gave it up for more money and work I enjoy more...

And you really don't want to know what I make per hour... but suffice it to say, I don't know of a drilling company anywhere that pays any position more per hour than a subsea engineer makes...Most Sub Sea engineers make substantially more than the OIM, Offshore installation Manager... our boss... we are hourly, they are salaried... no ot...

I hope you retire one of these days.....we never know from one minit to the next whats up.....you have a great family it sounds like and nice toys too.....so when does your next six months off come ?

this will blow yur mind....down the hill eight minutes from my house is a graphic design place me didnt know was there..duh !
they do basic stripes...custom design vinyl ...or will lay out designs at paint shops ...what ever you want.....they give a choice,if you want a one of a kind...its more money, and they will not duplicate it for anyone...a custom design that you dont want to be private cost less but prolly still expensive.......its got me thinkin......

We don't get six months at a time off, we work 28 days on, then 28 days off... or every other month... thats my bitch right now, they want to let me get home Friday this week, and turn around and come back on Sunday... Heck, the jet lag will make it a waste of time... i fly from Austin, to Dallas, To Miami, to Rio de Janieor, then to Vittoria... then get on a helicopter to the rig, and reverse that for the trip home... Thats why I get home Friday mid morning when i leave the rig on thursday morning...

Yeah, I'm about ready to haul mine down to a paint shop and let them do some striping... I'm pretty convinced I want the ghost stripes... I was hoping the Dale Eanrhardt spoiler would come out so I can put it on first...We'll see... I'm probably a few months away from doing it anyway...If that one doesn't come out, i'll either design and build my own, or go with the Street Scenes spoiler...I'm leanign towards the design and build my own deal though... It really isnt hard, just takes time and patience...

Have a safe trip! And yea, I agree, I like the Dale JR concept spoiler! If you have the patience to make your own, by all means! I don't think I have the patience. Although it would keep me constantly busy so I am not sure..

In addition to the guys I work with, there are a number of girls that played collegiate volleyball for my wife in Rio and other cities as well...Several of them have invited me for dinner but I haven't been able to take advantage of it yet...
