during acceleration and decel, AFR will be all over the place, both high and low 13-17. you are correct about being mid 14's for cruising. leaner during cruise would result in better economy though.

a rich condition is what causes the excess build up of carbon on the tips. it is from fuel that has not completed the combustion process. in conjunction with the amount of oil that the LLT consumes...good luck avoiding it. if you look, you will notice the stock camaro trashcans that hang below the bumper drain out carbon buildup through a weep hole (or something like that) which causes the black stripe on the bottom side. like was mentioned earlier, they come that way (rich/safe) from the factory.

the more you get into the peddle and go WOT, the quicker carbon will build up. not achieving complete combustion could also be an indication of timing being off, even with a richer AFR. just something to think about.

Ashley from BNR told me that soot buildup was normal after a tune, I just couldn't believe the buildup occurred in one day with no heavy driving. That didn't seem right to me. I'll have to see how I'm doing now, haven't cleaned my tips again.

Either way, it's not the buildup that bothered me it was my mpg. I went from 18-20 (21 if I really really tried) depending on driving habit to 16.5 doing my absolute best to granny it, coast to a red light, etc. Right now my car says 20.8 and I haven't really gone hard on the throttle yet so I suspect around 19-20 with normal driving habits.

Oh, I'm on my laptop so I attached the original data log for a pre and post tune neighborhood lap and an excel version if someone wants to stare at a million numbers.

Edit: upload files invalid, so I did a print screen. Let me know if I'm using the right log function.

Wait! If the Motorola X actually is a Nexus device (which I suspect it will be) , we will have never seen anything in the same league. Can you imagine motos build quality and radios developed hand in hand to Googles specs, with pure android 5.0 and unlockable bootloader, not to mention on the fly updates directly from Le Goog?

And the HTC one was just announced to not be unlockable and also isn't coming to Big Red. They are taking a twitter lashing that's all sorts of entertaining these days. The Galaxy S line is always good, but never overwhelming. Hype machine.

That is EXACTLY why I am waiting for that phone. Gimme some key lime pie goodness! I had a droid bionic for a week before switching to my current rezound (currently running AOSP jellybean 4.2.2) and signal/call quality was superb. I'm also excited by Google's statement that current are underwhelming, have poor cameras, and they plan to change that.

And I agree with your thoughts on the other two. I was disappointed to find out Verizon wasn't getting the HTC One, "because we have the Droid DNA." And Samsung is cool but they sort of crossed the line between having a lot of features and being gimmicky.

I have a Sammy right now, but only because that was the Nexus OEM at the time. Radios are shit and battery is worse. Typical complaints of Samsung.

That was another phone I was looking at. I got the bionic, found out about the rezound, moto razr, and galaxy nexus so turned it back in and waited another two months. I remember thinking "I want ICS but HTC said they'll have it out for the rezound soon." Biggest lie ever told by them....

Hell I'm still running the Galaxy S2 and enjoying the heck out of it (on Gingerbread non the less lol. Skipping ICS because of issues with it for the SGS2). There is even a Jelly Bean update on the way for us, so I see no reason to move on right now. I don't want a phone with a huge screen...the 4.3" screen my GS2 has is perfect...I don't know if any phone exists in that size that is any better.

Eventually I'll want/need to upgrade, and I hope at that time I can find a phone this size that isn't dumbed down with a slower processor or low resolution screen simply because the flagship 4.5" screen and up phones get that stuff.

I'd love to have a Google made phone and get the vanilla OS, instead of the customized ones like Samsungs, but I'm satisfied with it as well.

Apple is not an option.

We make ROMs for the GS2. You could have been on JB months ago...

This. That's all that matters to me, haha.

If you can jailbreak an iphone, you can flash and rom a droid.
